blackcoffee 1,264
This is so good! Really like it! Carly Rae has been so consistently great with delivering quality pop music since EMOTION. She's so underrated and great!
FRANK1991 3,329
"Take me to Emotion, Show me devotion" YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Queen of referencing her own iconic album is giving me feels on repeat already Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone
MelbHawker 6,583
I heard the song... it's chorus is definitely fun but the verses fall flat. She makes simple, catchy pop music. There's nothing that good about it, to be honest. Her musics always fun, but I can't put the word genius, brilliant etc. next to it. I don't get the huge praise she gets.. I think y'all just thirsty for some generic bops.
takemetovenus 4,826
The slander I see in this thread Carly Rae Jepsen is the savior of pop music and y'all will deal Nevertheless, another catchy bop from CRJ
Laceface 2,964
Fun Summer song, lets not read too much into it? Just enjoy it.
StrawberryBlond 14,919
Yes, I've been waiting for this new song for her for some time. I love it. She makes great singles, fun catchy, 80'tastic. I just feel so happy when I hear her music. I just love the line that goes: "I wanna play where you play with the angels, I wanna wake up with you all in tangles." That is sheer summer magic. The only question now is if radio will support it and if the public will be interested. It really is a shame how the critics liked her but the public ultimately paid her dust. They've just been determined to keep her as a one hit wonder when she deserves so much more. 1 hour ago, MelbHawker said: I heard the song... it's chorus is definitely fun but the verses fall flat. I really struggled to like Call Me Maybe but then it grew on me and before I knew it, I had bought her album and became a low-key fan of her. She honestly makes some of the best pop music around right now. Pop has become so down-tempo, bland and depressing these days. Then Carly comes along with a big summer anthem and it's like, this is what pop is. Her Emotion album genuinely sounds like it was made in the 80's, it's not merely 80's-influenced, it sounds like it was of that time. She should really get praised for achieving something like that. This is the album that should have been entitled 1989! Taylor Swift clearly stole her concepts for 1989 from Carly's Kiss album but came out with something nowhere near as good. Now, agreed, Carly isn't the best. I was actually surprised that critics praised her to quite the extent that they did with Emotion considering that Kiss was clearly in the same vein yet it didn't get the same praise. Most of her songs for me are merely above average as opposed to excellent, hence why I only gave Emotion 3.5/5. But I think she makes some of the best pop music around right now based on what we have to compare it with. When it comes to generic bops, I think of Justin, Katy (of late), Fifth Harmony or Taylor. imnotyourbabe10 6,102
Just have to add my excitement to the mix! What a positive and uplifting pop song. Always feel a little guilty when campy pop music hits the heartstrings...

baptism 2,670
YES. SLAY. This is incredible pop music. The Cure and Cut To The Feeling are my songs of the summer so far. This song makes me wanna makeout with my hot neighbor.

I think you should look at some of the reviews of EMOTION to see for yourself why she is so praised tbh. They definitely do not see her as being good "in comparison", but because of the brand she has created for herself and the immaculate attention to detail that is put into her music, from the lyrics to the production It's feel good music that is relatable and universal, but not personal in the vein of pop artists like Gaga or Taylor (that write about themselves primarily), well made, and good. Like, the hooks work, the melodies are good, etc. I could link you several reviews that really get into what makes this album (and Carly's songwriting/approach to music) effective, but I have to go atm Will be back, if you are interested. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

I appreciate her music, don't misunderstand me however not to the extent that most on here do. Her music's good fun - that's all there is to it. I prefer artists like Gaga who's music comes from her soul, it challenges me. I like that - Im drawn to it where music and my life are concerned. MayhemPop 32
It's Bey, Adele, Gaga and Taylor, but this is really good song. I dig it. Not as much as Miley. But it's a bop.
