Underneath 175 Posted May 22, 2017 Share Posted May 22, 2017 I have never liked her or any of her work, but it's funny to me how everybody is so eager to have a repeat of exactly what happened with ARTPOP by jumping on this incessantly negative & hateful bandwagon against her. History always repeats itself and female artists always eventually have to be knocked down... She is ignorant, her art is in decline, etc. etc... a lot of people do have valid criticisms. Yet I don't see anybody trying to start a meaningful conversation or educate her or give her constructive criticism rather than rooting for her downfall out of some misguided media-manipulated need for "revenge." You're saying if someone here said that Katy's "acting black" that person would be attacked by...people basically agreeing? And yeah, Katy's SNL performances have a mesmerizing quality in their trainwrecky-ness. They remind me of Charli XCX's Jimmy Kimmel performances. It's alright, that's been me for the past month the usual reaction to stereotypical/slightly racist (or totally racist, depending on who you ask) comments like "she's acting black" is OTT aggression and essays. Which isn't exactly a bad thing as long as they're not disrespectful or whatever, it's just weird to see people (meaning members here) being ok with that statement because it's being used to drag Katy Just humans being humans.
