What is this?! I looove it! I have NEVER really liked Katy but Witness era is truly working for me. SS is dark, sexy and velvety 90's house bob! Different than current songs, catchy with a fab production. And that damn bassline/riff is sexy af!

Totally going to buy the album now. Good for Katy for doing something different and a bit "strange" in a good way. I liked both CTTR and BA.

Nothing basic and generic about these no matter what some try to say.

She's talking about Taylor here :emma:

oh I know haha. it's probably even more detrimental to the song knowing that.

I was slightly underwhelmed by CTTR, but Bon Appetit (solo version) and Swish Swish :excited2::excited2:

honestly katy is really doing some magic for me this era, could never stand her before, but these tracks are amazing minus the features, she could do completely well with solo versions

This is really good. Love the house beat so much!

Was so underwhelmed by CTTR, but have liked everything else. Glad she's staying from bubblegum pop.

This is the worst of the 3 songs she released.

It will not smash but it will for sure go top 15 eventually on the Hot 100.

I like the song and love Nicki's rap, but then she starts singing and it gets really shitty. The slayage would have been real without Nicki's singing part.

This is song is quite polarizing - half the site loves it and half the sites hates it.

Guys I love this song so much. It grew soooo much. Nicki's verse is amazing, and it's a bopppppp.

Bon appetite is a bad song but I like it.

Chained To The Rythm is flawless (other than some lyrics).

This album IMO is already much better than prism.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Oh lord, it's another mess. Not as bad as Bon Appetit, but certainly second worst. These lyrics are awful, especially about a lion not taking advice from a shellfish or a sheep. How did Katy present that with a straight face? Capitol actually allowed this? And the beat is so boring, it's not danceable like it seems to think it is. It's funny, it was only when I came here that I even realised that this was a diss towards Taylor because I didn't even pick up on that initially. Then I pieced it together when I realised how Nicki had had beef with her recently too. I guess this also suggests there could be something on the Calvin collab as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm fully here for Taylor to be called out and I was chomping at the bit to hear Katy's response song to this whole sorry mess but I thought it was going to be so much better than this. But I have to admit, I like how cut-throat she is on that second verse even though it involves her saying stuff that just isn't realistic. Like about Taylor should just retire and her game is tired. Now, this is what her critics want but will it actually happen? Best to wait and see if it happens first before making such bold claims. You can't sell like Taylor and then just epically flop and lose all your fans. She's too big to come for in that way. She says karma keeps receipts but then doesn't actually expose anything about Taylor, so what's the point of saying it? I wonder how Nicki feels about saying that she makes hits with Katy when her biggest single this era only went #5, her single just before this one has only peaked at #76 so far and she's experiencing the first proper low moment of her career? Obviously, this was written back before anything was released and her team thought this was going to be another huge era for her. It wasn't supposed to be rush released as the third single to make up for the shoddy performance of Bon Appetit.

The problem with making this song a single is very real - it has to be hit if Katy wants to maintain any shred of credibility. If it flops, that sends the very clear message that the public is anti-Katy and pro-Taylor. It sends the message that Katy deserved to be dragged in Bad Blood and deserves any rebuttal to flop. So, Katy has potentially made the biggest mistake by making this a single. Somehow, I don't know if it's going to have long-lasting appeal, even with Nicki on it. It won't be as big as Bad Blood, that is unquestionable. I bet you anything Taylor's listening to this now, laughing herself silly at such a weak response. If you're going to release a diss track, you have to bring it and if this is the best Katy can do, her era is only going to get harder for her. If it were the lead single, maybe things would have worked out differently but now seeing that the album is less than a month away and you can get a free copy of it by getting a tour ticket, her fans just might not bother downloading this track en masse. This is going to get interesting.

So this is obviously directed towards Taylor but it's really weak.

What does "swish swish bish another one in the basket" even mean?

And how is she going to say she's still winning when her tours and album/single sales don't even touch Taylor's lmao.

If you're going to diss someone, you need to state facts and not state your wishes.

I totally agree. "Another one in the basket" is likely referring to "this song's another hit for me, so much for you trying to bring me down" and "another one in the casket" could potentially mean "another nail in the coffin of your career, the public have seen through you now, meanwhile, I keep rising." But I don't see how the "swish swish" bit correlates to all that. Referring to a credit card being swiped, reference to the reciept line? Yes, it is a bit odd.

I also agree that, even as a Taylor hater, making her sound like she's flopping and on the verge of being irrelevant is just ridiculous. She may not be the adored figure she once was, she may not have the same success she had before, but to say that she should just retire and her game is up is just ignorant because like I said before, someone with her fanbase and levels of success just don't vanish. If Katy thinks she'll "be around for more than a minute, honey," well, Taylor could easily have said that about her.

And yep, diss tracks are about telling facts, not inflating your success levels. Doing that will cause your rival to think they're justified in bringing you down because you're a delusional egomaniac. I was here for this Katy diss response that had been rumoured ever since Bad Blood hit the airwaves and I expected so much more than this weak attempt at shade. After Remy Ma caused the biggest upset in female rap in years with her diss track to Nicki Minaj just a few months ago (that got rave reviews and Nicki is still referencing, perhaps even on this very song), you can't come out with weak diss songs. Remy Ma has set the bar. Anything that has come out since just seems weak. Yes, obviously, not everyone is a rapper who relies on extreme exposure in a diss track, but it needs to be better than vague.

That J

This lyrics seem like they belong to two different songs and the beat doesn't seem right for the lyrics at all.  It's like 3 ideas just pressed together. That first verse is terrible! A shellfish doesn't just roll off the tongue.

IDK what this is! Yet somehow it's oddly entertaining.  This is like bad Cyndi Lauper....I wouldn't bump it too loud but it's too dumb to be ignored.  😂

This is MY opinion so don't start, Kats! Ya'll know I love you. 😉
