I Don't Think Gaga Wants To Be A Popstar Anymore

That felt like it was an interscope mandate or bone thrown to pop fans who thought Joanne was too country. I don't feel like Gaga is truly living for her music anymore.

Honestly I don't think she has been really passionate about music since ARTPOP "flopped". She cares more about critical acclaim in every way possible now

Same, she had a huge transformation in 2014. She went from larger than life popstar to a jazz singer, and she's never fully transitioned back.

Maybe The Cure was a step forward into being a pop star :whitney:

She released the song for the fans. It was not meant (or maybe it was but we'll never know) to be a hit.

I agree. But it is still pop, and Gaga would not release it if it wasn't what she wanted to do.

I don't think it is her wants specifically. With the rise of social media + celebrity (the one she ushered in) is fleeting. Nothing is really dominant anymore.

Gaga owned 2009-2011. You couldn't NOT find her everywhere. She was prolific on Facebook and Twitter. That just doesn't happen anymore. Sure, Drake, Ed Sheeran and Bieber are all use for streams but NONE of them have the cultural relevance + dominance Gaga had back then. No one can really have the top spot.

Gaga, in my opinion, is the last (for a long time) major pop star. I always think Gaga has stayed true to her art, and not focused on the commercial or critical success. I think C2C was her stepping away because she wanted that time away from the light. She focused more on her vocal power than anything else. It's respectable, and I think it's working.

The reason she was a major pop star is because people LOVED her music, visuals, fashion and performances. She was a major pop star because her talent spoke to people. Gaga herself didn't make people love her.

I think ASIB is something she wants to do because she is getting to write her own music. No one is forcing her to be in a box. I don't think Gaga is a "flop" celebrity as some would say. It's just in this day in age no one can be that dominant anymore. People's attention span is on what is big and moving on.

I agree, I think she's definitely over that 'phase' of her career. She wants to be an actress now and get acting nominations & acclaim. She's multi-talented, we all know that, she just wants to show us more than what we've already seen.

She has so much talent, why inhibit her? She won a Grammy for singing jazz and Golden Globe for acting, and now she's starring in her first major movie.

She does not care about her career anymore, and she does not care about her fans anymore, she does not care about anything, even though she says yes. She only thinks about herself and is sad, because that is destroying her own career.

Here's to our brand new start, I won't be waiting for nothing. I'll mend the broken parts. Pick up the pieces,

...Of course she does care! Basically dedicated the superbowl for us, released John Wayne music video for people who miss CrazyGa and as a gift since it was not a single, and released The Cure at Coachella saying: "I love you guys so much. I have been through so much in my life and I’ve seen so much. And you cure me every time with your love”

You all hate ASIB and want her to be a typical popstar like the other girls, maybe Gaga's plans are different now.

I'm sorry, but you're so annoying.

Sorry, it's just that this has been such a discussed topic over... I don't know, years.

I think somehow she wasn't able to manage the ups and downs a pop star career has. So stepping away was the best way to cope with it. The movie industry, although harsh, will be different, maybe easier for her since she's already an established celebrity (movie industry is mostly hard for newcomers).

This!

She is very unpredictable in what she invests her self entirely and what she just "puts out there." Sometimes it feels like art/inspiration and sometimes it feels as if she's doing something to fulfill a duty - her contract etc. I don't find her as interesting as I used to but I guess relying on shock value for publicity will only take you so far. I just hope she's happy with her career and life in general.
