Unless she's planning on having the tour be over by about mid-2018. What are she and her management thinking? This is not a long-term idea for a full-time singer. And I just watched her old promo slots of the show. If this was America's Got Talent, she would have got buzzed off within the first few seconds. Besides all the usual complaints about how this is career suicide for her, all that aside...this show is destined to flop. Both this and X Factor got cancelled because they couldn't compete with The Voice. The market was over-saturated with singing shows and only one could win. Usually, it's the original that survives but obviously, the American public preferred the idea of The Voice better and they tuned in to that. Honestly, to even have the name American Idol around in this day and age sounds out-dated. International versions of Pop Idol dropped that name after a few years and moved on to Simon Cowell's next invention, The X Factor. American Idol was the only Idol show that kept that name. So, it was for the best that it got cancelled, the name, the entire concept, had become outdated. Nowadays, if the public want a reality tv singing show, they want one where the judges form a team, where a judge can "win" a series, where the judges sing with the contestants. You've got to move with the times if you want to survive and an American Idol revival is practically prehistoric. These shows are running out of auditionees and money and the winners don't make it anymore. Why would anyone still want to audition for any of them? When she no doubt butchers a live singing performance and this show inevitably tanks after one season, Katy is going to come away from this with her tail between her legs, just another embarrassment in this so far disaster of an era. Like I do love Katy but obviously vocally she's not the strongest and she's pitchy and just kinda everywhere when she sings live.
