Dirtyicecreamz 1,716
What a coincidence that pop music was at its peak when our fav was the biggest star in the universe.. Coincidence? I think not. (thank you for this thread though! I didn't believe people saying "pop music isn't big anymore" until I read this) Stop the music, Start the drama. blackcoffee 1,264
Amazing post and analysis! Wow. The article is great too and shows way more genres on the chart, for those wondering. I'm super into stuff like this. The decline in rock is the saddest thing about this...

262626 204
This makes so much sense when you look into that 20 years back theory, where each decade takes things from 20 years ago. So, technically, it's like we're back into the 90s where Hip Hop and R&B were the trend. Let's see where the next decade takes us!

RochestrMonstr 3,039
I love all of Gaga's music, but i've never enjoyed pop music as a whole during any of her eras. 2011 had a lot of garbage too. I preferred 2004. I loved the guitars taking over the pop scene. Avril Lavigne (my second fave after Gaga) was the main pop girl at the time, and she had more blatant wannabes than Gaga ever did (Ashlee Simpson especially), but it was mostly at least tolerable. That was about the only time I ever really enjoyed listening to the radio. I really didn't hate anything from around that time.

giskardsb 12,565
not convinced on their definitions. In fact Blues/R&B is the genre that spawned every one of those represented genres yet they claim it had no impact until the 80's? What did they consider the entire motown era?
