What is wrong with today's music?

When we think of music from the past generations, it's likely that you'd be flummoxed by the quality sonically that seems as if it's dwindling. As many people stated music has been made just for commercial success however pop music has always been that way. We fail to realize the numerous artists with similar tactics used by the likes of The ChainsmokersDaya, Zedd, and Drake. However I do believe that a reason why the quality of music is so abysmal is because artists are having less ideas to write about. Song lyrics are also getting progressively dumber as well, unfortunately. In order to stop this from occurring we'll just have to not consume songs that are made for commercial success and respect and support artists with actual artistic integrity.

The current trend is an awful one. We're in the midst of it. Music's calling for someone to shake things up again.

But you must have been feeling sorry for those artists. It's unfair if talent doesn't win :lolly:

Feel sorry for who? They're making great music that doesn't have to fit into the strict confines of what's "mainstream", and that's more my speed. Sure, I'd love my favorites to have success, but simply being on the charts =/= success.

Talent wins in other ways, like the millions of streams I give these indie pop queens :lolly:

We need Gaga to collab with Calvin Harris or Clean Bandit, and then she'll be up there again

So in order to provide quality sonically Gaga should merge into a genre pioneered by artists who partake in such consumerism in order to provide music that's generally favored by a large demographic that are yearning for artistic integrity? That's rather ineffective, isn't it?

What happens in my opinion is that genres are slowly disappearing. Rock, pop, r&b, rap, they will all blend together to make one type of music, a theory but we're seeing some evidence, especially with rap, the "trendy" rap music has some pop in it, some singing, the lyrics mean nothing. Real rock is barely relevant anymore as r&b and dance music blended together is the trend now, pop has trouble standing out cause the current r&b is close to being pop. As a result, everything sounds the same

:awkney: Thanks I suppose.

I just don't see the point in listening to anything I don't want to listen to, which is why the radio is never really an option.

If you're the type of fan who cares about the charts, then her collabing with those sorts of 'artists' is the best way for her to get back up there (not that I'm even a fan of either artist, or the current pop sound). Or if she churned out more songs like The Cure. I love Joanne and believe it was massively underrated, but I'd love to hear her voice all over the radio again, simply because it's dominated by all trashy divas atm and Ed Sheeran- I need Gaga to make the radio bearable to listen to.

But why is GP stupid enough to let them be no.1 .I don't get it.Are teens and adults really that stupid nowadays?

Streaming overtook the charts. People can stream a certain song a billion times and that way also influence the charts a billion times. Back then, sales were way more important , so one person could affect the charts only once.

Cure yourself with The Cure:diane:

I cant stand The Chainsmokers either, or that same sound tbh

kinda ironic because this is the worst gaga single in the history of her career... her voice it's good but the instrumental it's like the chainsmokers'
