Swine, Donatella, Aura, although the lyrics and concepts were innovative, the instrumentals reminded me of old Zedd. The rest of the songs are just different but I wouldnt call them ahead of their time bc they didnt really set any trends or were the "first" of a genre. 15jocart 2,305
There is some major delusion in this thread Bad Romance and Just Dance were ahead of their times - BR is a timeless classic, and JD singlehandedly made waves in the music industry that would last until at least 2012. TF/M as a whole was ahead of its time, BTW was conceptually innovative but sonically a throwback to the 80s, ARTPOP was dated upon release, and Joanne was specifically supposed to neither be innovative or a throwback. Been a long time but I'm back in town, and this time I'm not leaving without you

The Fame also helped EDM to explode into the mainstream in the early 2010s. even though it wasn't the first EDM album by a mainstream artist (Confessions on a Dancefloor, Blackout, Good Girl Gone Bad, etc) it was the one that truly made it become massive and the new "trend" that every artist had to try out. Blackout had huge influences though. Rihanna even stated in an interview that Rated R was influenced by it.

ARTPOP sounded dated the second it got released because EDM was literally dying, she produced and recorded most tracks 2012 when EDM was a thing but ARTPOP sounded cheap as a Q4 release in 2013... there are a few tracks on ARTPOP that sounded fresh back then and still do, but a vast majority were and still sound dated. if we're gonna talk about songs being ahead of their time, please be kind and bring up tracks like SHICD, Paparazzi (she wrote it in 2006!!! c'mon), Heavy Metal Lover, Black Jesus and Bloody Mary. ahead of its time does not equal a good or experimental song. bye! I think after this comment, the mods might end this thread, period. ... and now i just sit in silence.
