She is not going to flop guys

It happens to them all and 9/10 it is because of massive ego's going out of control.

But surely FourFiveSeconds and BBHMM didn't flop on the charts as hard as BA??

45S didn't flop as hard but BBHMM was a massive flop. Especially coz Rihanna directed the music video. Lots of viewers were offended by it. Don't think it went top ten anywhere.

Yeah, I think she'll still tour as she has enough hits that some people might still want to see live. But the production values will be nowhere near the level of Prismatic and as for the regions she'll visit and the amount of dates she'll do? She may still have somewhat of an audience in America but worldwide...oh boy. Australia gave her an amazing leg of Pink proportions last time but lately, they've shown that they are not here for her, so if she goes, it'll be more of an artRave level of Australian leg we're talking about. She did such a long, extensive tour of Latin America last time and wasn't all that successful so I doubt she'll go there again, apart from maybe Mexico as she's always been big there. And honestly, I don't see her going to Asia at all, they've paid her dust with her new music and she was never the biggest there to begin with. If she does go, it'll just be Japan and at the absolute most, Singapore and Philippines too. As for Europe, they've not been heavily feeling her either. It'll be more along the lines of the European leg of her California Dreams tour there and the chances of her going to anywhere outside of Western Europe and Scandinavia are zero. Africa isn't even a possibility.

All in all, she'll have a tour that looks like artRave and it'll probably gross about the same, maybe even a bit less as her tickets tend to be quite cheap. Its going to be a shock for her, that's for sure. When she was riding high during Prismatic, I remember saying that she'd better enjoy it because she has no chance of having a tour this successful ever again.

But in 2013 tours were spectacular extravaganzas. Mechanical horses, expensive sets, multiple costume changes. Since Rihanna's Anti Tour last year, I've noticed that tours are becoming more and more budget-conscious and less theatrical. That's why I think Gaga was smart making a stripped back album. People want to go to hear her voice. But with Katy, her last shows have relied heavily on theatrics, so I wonder how her tour will cope with a vastly smaller budget.

Gaga recovered because of her VOICE. Katy doesn't have one. She's gonna struggle. A true talent always win expedition.

I know it :diane: but I still think Katy will recover. Not thanks to her voice, there are other options. $$$ is one of them :lolly:

But ARTPOP as a whole was labelled a flop. Not just by (some) KatyCats (at that time), but also by Monsters, and especially by the media. Hello...ARTFLOP? Yet Gaga recovered very well, even though it's been 4 years, she was still able to sell out her latest World Tour.

Let's suppose every artist has their own ARTPOP era. If KP4 is indeed Katy's ARTPOP, how well do you think she will recover? Will she even do a World Tour for KP4 if sales for the album are lower than anticipated?

But Gaga recoverd by using her vocal skills and leaving people in awe performance after performance. The Jazz ablum was mainly to showcase her vocal capabilities because in Jazz, you use a lot of improvisations and have fun with it. Katy doesnt have the voice to recover like Gaga did. If she is going to flop this era, she's going to be gone for a while. This may even break her career

OT: She'll still go on tour because she has a fan base who'd want to see her live

I don't think it's because labels don't want big theatrics anymore, it's simply the matter of they can't afford them like they used to. So few artists are having big hit albums these days. There's just not enough money to fund these million dollar lightshows right now. If everyone was selling like the 90's, there is no doubt that every tour would be spectacular. But if you can't sell, you will take a budget cut. So many Gaga fans hated the downgrade from the BTW stage to the artRave stage. To be honest, I thought the catwalks that took her right into the crowd overrode all that, though. I ended up right underneath her and she looked right at me!

I watched the whole Prismatic tour, piece by piece from videos on YouTube and we're talking about official live DVD uploads here, so it's ultimate quality. And I have to say, I thought, minus Katy's awful vocals, the show was certainly an amazing spectacle. Though, I'd like to pretend that whole section with her dancers dressed up as cats never happened. This is honestly one of the highest budget tours I've ever seen. The mechanical horse, moving platforms, an inflatable car, confetti showers...not to mention winching devices to lift Katy into the air while lying flat and even a winch that made her drift through the entire arena clutching onto balloons. There were also 250 costumes made for Katy and all the dancers. Songs and vocal ability aside, there's no denying that the tour was a showstopper vision-wise. I don't know how she's ever going to top that. Even Gaga's shows didn't have such high production values. But she will unquestionably go through a downgrade this time and it's going to make all her vocal shortcomings really stand out. A fan who used to come here all the time said in late 2015 that her next tour was going to be even bigger than Prismatic. I think this just shows that you can't count your chickens before they hatch.
