Maybe even early 2000s. Plus Gaga should not be going for nostalgia.

I can accept them, but your opinions feel fake and influenced by charts. If The Cure smashed you'd be singing a different tune. I've been on this site since 2011 as a guest, and had an account for years during the AP/C2C era, and I know your type, and your posts are very telling. I am really cringing right now because you literally know nothing about me and you try to put me in a generalized category of people. I do not judge what I like based on the charts My favourite artist is Bjork that have never had a US top 40.. Unlike you ,I actually explain my opinions with arguments instead of attacking the other member of the conversation without reason or proof. Also The Cure is not really doing bad at all ,it's slaying Spotify and doing alright on iTunes especially for the non-existing promo that it got. I just don't think it a good song. And that wouldn't change even if it was a #1. Looks like your "experience" on the site is simply bs I want to end the conversation here because I feel attacked and insulted. You don't care about discussing with me and learning my opinion, you care about insulting and degrading me,Bye

Also the second question is so off topic? Bjork doesn't have commercial success because her music is too innovative, weird and complicated for the general public and because she doesn't really try to have commercial success. The Cure is trendy but the melodies and Gaga's vocals are great. So Gaga is really the one elevating the song. And at least now we know that you prefer a song with 1 word lyrics. The Cure is far from my favorite Gaga song, but to imply that it's not a huge hit because of quality is problematic. The idea that quality music is popular music must end. I do really like the vocals in The Cure tbh ,it's the only thing that keeps the song from being completely dull. The melodies are not really great at all,it feels like a song written by The Fame Gaga in 5 minutes. It's completely predictable and nothing special. I do not prefer songs with 1 word,I prefer songs that have uniqueness and are not dull and unintersting.
Cerny 4,270
Lady Gaga already peaked, though (This is my opinion, and I can't be the only one who feels this way, don't rage) I still feel her latest efforts are from ok to average, she went from catchy music with edge, to uninteresting and insipid indie act wannabe music, with a touch of pop in the form of bland hooks and still that boring, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge, chorus structure. It doesn't bode well at all, like if you're going to dive into other genres at least make some effort, go all in and change things up. Lady Gaga is influenced by all this incredible artists and she has a very interesting mind but it doesn't really show in her music. I think she either needs to fully depart from pop music and make something very interesting, (but this time without relaying on classics and an established Jazz legends) I think that would give her glowing reviews and her first 80+ metacritic score, basically the critics approval she's been desperately seeking for a while now, or go back to the her glossy, high-production pop with that Gaga touch (something The Cure lacks, I mean it doesn't even sound like her) I've seen a lot of people craving for that (not me though). One thing I find interesting though, is that Gaga hasn't had a real hit since she dropped RedOne, which is kinda f*cked up. It took her three years to get another top 10 single, only because of the Super Bowl's help, without it, Million Reasons would have quickly been forgotten and disposed of. Oh yeah, but she's getting gigs? I mean she's a musician, we're applauding her for that? She's an incredibly well connected woman but the general public isn't here for her music anymore. Acting? In what? Underperforming TV shows and films not one asked for and pretty much no one knows about? But she's touring artists and her shows are selling out, well yeah, that is an indication of a fanbase. Literally, any artist can sell out a venue if they have a fanbase, that doesn't mean they're relevant within pop culture, or music in general. In short: her latest efforts have been average compared to say, Born This Way, The Fame Monster and The Fame. With these three at least she injected some life to pop music, with ARTPOP and Joanne what did she accomplish, exactly? With ARTPOP and its EDM sound, she was late to the party, with Joanne she tried to ditch some pop elements but the worst elements are still present, The Cure? ARTPOP 2.0 late to the party with an old tired sound that gets lost on the radio because pretty much all the songs have that sound.

I just think that a boring and uninteresting song can not become a big hit even if it has the currently cool production. I do think that you are completely incorrect if you think that the cure's quality has nothing to do with its "underperformance". The song is simply not hit worthy. It has nothing to offer Listen to other successful Gaga songs or even tropical-pop-2016-2017 hits and compare them with the cure.. Imo every Justin Bieber Purpose single and every Chainsmokers hit is better than the cure. Also every Gaga older hit is A LOT better than the cure

While I do agree with you that The Cure is trendy and predictable, I still think that the song is better than a song like Work or Closer. I mean those songs are the definition of dull. How could a song that repeats work work work with minimal instrumentals, and a song with bad vocals and cheesy lyrics not be dull. Those songs really are dull. Gaga's vocals are beautiful and the lyrics are not the most intricate, but they are very uplifting.
