If The Cure is not a hit then nothing will be

If the Cure is not a hit, and by that I mean a Top 10 hit on Billboard Hot 100, then I think nothing Gaga releases is likely to be. I always said that the main reason that Gaga was struggling with the charts was because she always released non trendy and maybe not always relatable music. But my theory was that as long as she released something that is in trend, catchy, and relatable, then she could easily have a hit. Now, I don't necessarily care if she has hits or not,she already achieved a lot and this topic in mainly only for discussion purposes. But The Cure is exactly what Gaga needed to release to have a hit. So I think that if the GP and Radios don't support a song like The Cure then it will be very hard for them to support anything else (specially if Gaga deviates again from on trend pop music).

Yes. ATRL is chaos as usual. Now even more thanks to me. But hey, I have not been banned yet so that is a plus. :giggle:

I've been saying this, and it's pretty true. If this mainstream, radio friendly and somewhat generic song can't get Gaga a hit, I doubt anything will. It's not about music quality anymore, it's about names, and people will boycott a song because Gaga is the singer.

I mean MR was a US hit just before the cure and the cure could be classified as a hit in UK & AUS and some other places but yeah, if US radio etc are having a problem to play a song like the cure i don't see much else of her getting played. Still praying the updates will get better and the cure will be a hit though.

Gaga is just not 'cool' anymore and that's fine. Her career is just as successful as always, just in a different way. Achievements doesn't necessarily mean Top 10 hits - that's a very narrow way of thinking.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Yes. Now hits are mostly made by whoever is hot and popular at the moment and not necessarily about the music itself. Things like popularity and age of the artist, and the trendiness of the music will decide what gets supported/promoted the most by the music industry.

Million Reasons had the SuperBowl though. The Cure has to rely on limited promo, and radio play. Million Reasons was still only a moderate hit, not a smash.

Ageism is getting worse. Soon only teenage acts will be played on radio. ebPmIxT.gif

How are you measuring her success though? I love Gaga, but not let's pretend she's half as big as she once was in most metrics.

The Cure showed potential, but she is filming about about to go on tour so she hasn't really promoted it at all. All artists need promo. Magazine covers, advertisements, music videos, television performances, radio interviews.

I think she could still get a sizable hit if she released a single around award show period and heavily promoted it. Whether that's something she is interested in doing is another matter though.
