Let's pray Gaga is able to separate herself from the role she portrays in Star is Born, so that it is fresh; she did alright in AHS, but considering it was for television, there's still a lot to be said about her acting features. Part of me believes she will succeed and slay it and be able to put on a worthwhile show, but the other part is that she will fall short and experience this "Madonna" curse.

I'm admittedly nervous about ASIB too. In the first few episodes of Hotel, Gaga was pretty stiff, but by the end of the season, she was stellar. I'm hoping that's a good sign for ASIB.

I think, to be honest, Gaga could become quite the stellar actress - she would just have to get out of her head and commit, which is something we all know she's perfectly capable of doing. For Madonna's case, it always seemed as if she was thinking "I'm Madonna, and because I'm Madonna, I'll body this role" which rarely was the case. Not trying to compare the two exclusively, but this thread brought up some feelings I have towards ASIB and my reluctance - which will hopefully be crushed once it premieres. 

Madonna is a terrific performer, which is more than can be said about many of her (at that time) contemporaries, but Evita was a travesty, aside from this incredible remix:

On a side-note, we can be thankful for Evita teaching Madonna how to sing finally.

Literally, listen to her work pre-Evita, and post-Evita (most notably, Ray of Light). The movie did wonders for her vocal techniques and ability to project.

I'm pretty sure Gaga has more latent acting ability than Madonna just based on everything we've seen from her, and what Madonna was capable of. I saw some early acting footage of Madonna and it was atrocious.
