Katy Perry and Calvin Harris Are Collaborating

Both Katy and Calvin have been in this business long enough to know exactly what people are going to say about this collaboration and they know full well the lyrics will be picked apart and made to fit the media narrative of their "feud" with Taylor. There's already an article with a headline that reads "Taylor Swift: Calvin Harris Enlists Katy Perry To Take on Ex". These people know exactly what they're doing but I bet you they'll play dumb when it's released.

I wish Katy would just come out and blatantly address the Tawylor Swift thing instead of going on these round about ways of talking about it. In her interview the other day, when she was specifically asked about responding to Bad Blood,  she was like 'oh I'm not writing about anyone in particular' but then goes on to say "When women come together and they decide to unite, this world is going to be a better place. Period end of story. But, let me say this: Everything has a reaction or a consequence so don’t forget about that, okay, honey."

So basically she says women should be uniting but she also pretty much confirms she's going to respond to Taylor. Fair enough but if you're gonna go after her then just do it, don't contradict yourself and try and lessen the blow with some faux female empowerment message.

This underhand tactic of going after someone but not really going after them is so tired. Either say something properly or leave it be. This song might not even be about Taylor in the slightest but they know good and well that people will make it about her. I don't really care about Taylor, she has employed his tactic herself plenty of times and it'd be a taste of her own medicine to have someone write a song attacking her this time, I just don't like the hypocrisy and the passive aggressive way of doing it.

Musical trends nowadays...

Calvin Harris - This Is What You Came For ft. Rihanna

now Katy follows Rihanna's footsteps (tbh it's the same for Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, they either collaborate with EDM DJs or black rappers, so I'm not talking only about Katy here)

I'm just glad there are artists like Gaga and Beyonce and Justin Timberlake who set up their own sounds.

lmao, yeah Rihanna invented collabs now :ladyhaha:

I'm not shocked at all because she REALLY only cares about success and money after all.

Reminds of the fact Rihanna couldn't get a decent hit without a collaborator during her last era

Needed me #13 on year-end Billboard hot 100 chart, but aight :nails:

Guuuurl

"I'm just glad there are artists like Gaga and Beyonce and Justin Timberlake who set up their own sounds."

:rip: Gaga collabin with Kendrick, T. I, Twista, Too Short

Bey's most iconic hit and breakout hit being with a rapper :rip:

JT collabin with T.I, Jay-Z.......

Rihanna is not a trendsetter no matter how much you want her to be so

Where is the logic in your argument?

Just because I acknowledged her as a hitmaker doesn't mean I applaud the trend she had started, which is why I prefer artists who create their own sound like JT, Bey and Gaga.

You called these artists out for collabin with DJ's and black rappers, then went on to praise JT, Bey and Gaga who have done the same? Then you ask me for the logic in my argument? And none of these artists "created their own sound" lmao. They implemented difference musical genres into their music while other ones were popular at that moment.

And what exactly is wrong with these examples?

They did it at times when hip-hop/urban was not as easily popular as it is today. EDM and dance-pop were still huge at those times they did what you said they did.

I'm talking about Katy and Ariana and Zayn who are trying to hop onto the trend today, in 2017.

Jewels N' Drugs happened in 2013. JT and Beyonce's peaks were a few years back. They did not jump on the bandwagon.

There's Ariana Grande too.

Katy's song will be one of the weakest.

Ariana's collab is already out and I find it pretty weak too. Calvin seems to have lost his spark lately.

Wait are you even serious? 1/3 of the Billboard charts in the 90's was hip-hop. Most of the 00's was dominated by hip-hop.

The "bandwagon", if there is one, has existed for decades, it did not just start. Katy had a #1 hit with a black rapper in 2010, and another one in 2011, then in 2013. She did not "hop onto the trend today, in 2017."

Gaga jumped on the EDM trend with ARTPOP, collabed with ZED and Madeon.

You people are so ignorant i don't get it.

Needed Me and Love on the Brain did very well though.

Edit: Kiss it Better is platinum in the US. :emma: I don't know how because its peak position is #62 whereas A-YO was top #30.
