Trump fires FBI Director James Comey

The timing is still weird though. Very suspicious. Everyone agrees Comey had to be fired after his behavior during the election and his senate hearing last week, but firing him now is just weird. The investigation will continue, the FBI has many departments, Comey isn't the entire FBI.

Technically his campaign is under investigation, not him personally. The investigations will go on, Comey isn't the only person in the FBI, there are many people investigating it now who work for departments of the FBI.

Yes there are different departments and employees but they're under direction of the director. If the newly appointed director wishes to close those investigations he can and will

During the campaign, there were hints that Russians tried to influence the US election in favor of Trump. Most specifically, but not exclusively, the Russians hacked the DNC and found a bunch of emails that made democrats and Hillary Clinton look really bad and got those documents out on the internet. All of this while Trump is saying nice things about Putin and vice versa. 

Then, American intelligence agencies determine that the Russians, in fact, did try to influence the election in various ways, and are apparently are investigating Trump and his camp to see if they were colluding with the Russians. 

Then, things keep cropping up where people in Trump's inner circle were buddies with high up Russians, or they had a bunch of Russian investments or connections, or they had conversations with Russians that they said they didn't have. And, they are lying about this stuff. 

Then, more stuff comes out about intelligence agencies digging deeper and deeper, and actually finding some stuff. 

Then, Comey, who is the head of the FBI and one of the people in charge of investigating Trump says something to the effect of "Oh, I'm so shocked to think that my actions during the election might be responsible for Trump being President (because he reopened the investigation into Clinton at the worst possible moment, right when Trump's campaign seemed to be collapsing in on itself because of the Access Hollywood tape, and almost certainly actually is a but-for causal factor in Trump being president)." 

Then, Comey gets fired. Like, maybe he actually deserved it, but it makes Trump look REALLY BAD.
