hELXIG 43,094
Because she's not really a pop artist anymore. Her contemporarys aren't Rihanna, Katy, Ariana, etc. She does a different thing than what they do. And honestly, all of you pop fans don't seem to have any idea that thousands of other artists exist comfortably outside of pop music. The pop world chewed her up and spat her out. She's been very outspoken about this for years now. And you still expect her to continue with that same life and act like a normal pop star? No. Because she's an artist. And real artists don't often exist well in the pop sphere, because their vision is too strong and they are too passionate to downgrade the integrity of their art. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

And if she does, it does not always sees the light (i.e., Kendrick + Gaga would have been a thing before Taylor's Bad Blood). djBuffoon 12,123
She's an artist first, pop star secondary. And no artist must or should follow rules.

freebit 6,240
She seems more inclined to hang out with people really into music. I remember her once saying she didn't care for most of the celebrities she'd met. As for this weird need for her to hang out with other celebrities, I don't think she really needs to, especially if she doesn't like or feel comfortable around certain people. She also seems to have an intense, mature personality. It's like asking why Angelina Jolie doesn't pal around with Reese Witherspoon, Emma Stone, J.Law, or Goop. 9 hours ago, Stef said: Regular people will tell you its because her contemporaries have outlasted her in terms of commerical success and relevancy meanwhile Gaga rose meteorically and tumbled meteorically. Therefore when one thinks of big female pop stars, they think of Rihanna, Ariana, Beyonce, Taylor Fans will tell you its because she's music not the bling and she's better than all of them and she's in her own league and she is her own contemporary etc Believe whom you wish By "regular people", I think you mean "typical pop forum stans" - no else really gives a **** and sits around thinking about pop girls, their rankings, ~relevancy and longevity etc.
doppelganger 3,935
Thank god she doesn't date Tom Hiddleston, puts out a song with the Nickis of the world, announces her pregnancy with fanfare. I like my Gaga just the way she is : a little insecure, a little strange, intelligent, immensely talented.

It seems lost on some people here that The Fame was her satire/Andy Warhol performance art piece of being a famous popstar. It was a character just like Joanne is/was. I think it was pretty clear as soon as The Fame Monster came around that she was doing social commentary on what the business does to people. Look at the opening of the G.U.Y. video for F's sake. She's definitely not just an airheaded popstar walking into the studio and recording vocals over a beat made months earlier by some rent-a-producer. (Not counting Aura since that's one of her greatest songs of all time, it gets a pass..)

Today you need to do features, you need to stage publicity stunts with celebs like Selena with the Weeknd and Taylor's Hiddleston stunt, or the J.Lo/Drake fake relationship. Gaga just doesn't feel like she is apart of music anymore. I can't see her being friends with Rihanna like Katy and dating Orlando Bloom. Drake, Nicki and Rihanna have all collabed so their fanbases experience cross pollination, and get inflated. What went wrong? It amazes me to read someone criticizing Gaga for being an ACTUAL REAL person. What do you mean by "today you need to..."? She doesn't NEED to do anything, other than making good music. And even so she does A LOT more than that.
REALITY 76,919
I actually like that about her though. Like, she's in her own lane, her own separate category. She doesn't need to be apart of "mainstream pop culture", and in fact, I personally wouldn't want her to be apart of it anyways. She's said it before, she's like an old soul in a young body, and I definitely think she embodies that to a tee. She does what she wants and she isn't going to just assimilate into this new culture just cause. I don't see this as a problem at all, in fact I see this as an advantage. She's different, unique, and truly sticks to her artwork. All of those things are fairly uncommon to find nowadays. I'm not saying Gaga should record a song with Drake and then a week later pretend to be his gf and have a media induced feud with Rihanna for press, but that collabing with a current artist once in awhile, or mingling with them more wouldn't hurt anything. Hades 27,980
Gaga had hits with her talent and that's why she's on a league of her own like Mariah or Madonna. She doesn't need publicity stunts like Selena Gomez to achieve that. No shade to Selena ot those other girls but that's their only way to find some success temporarily and make some money. As soon as we all realize that she cares more about exploring different things each time we won't care about her having ''hits'' that much now. She chases her acting dreams now even if she flops she tries things. Good for her.
Lee Ng 1,490
Because she is on her way to be these people's " ancestor" in the industry. She had been through a lot, reaching the peak of the game and mastering the definition of fame while Ariana, The Weeknd,..etc still work so hard to have a good spot in people's mind and heart. Gaga had that spot and will forever represent as a multi-talented artist. I think this is kind of too obivious to understand. Even though I have some friends that are older than me, but it's still easy to talk and make friends with those who are at the same age and has the same direction in life. This is just a perfect reflection of her teenage period. She has always been that kid. The weirdo who never gets involved in the cool kids' group. People believing otherwise are being a bit delusional imo. before people quote "she said it was not a character", a performance artist in character for a performance is not going to claim it's a role. At that moment, it's real. Unfortunately she was a bit too good at it and she's been fighting type-casting ever since.
