I don't know if The Cure would be nominated in electronic, that would be a great opportunity for it to get a nomination somewhere. And I really want to know if they'll put Million Reasons into pop or country. These distinctions will really matter is she wants to stand a chance. Honestly, pop has been so boring recently and Divide is the only big seller since Lemonade, so what else could possibly be nominated in the pop category that could rob Gaga of a nomination at least? Everyone who's headlined at the SB lately has had Grammy nominations the following year. Gaga has to get nominated for MR somewhere. She performed it at the SB and it went to #4 the next week. That can't go unnoticed, surely? That's the only part of the album that stands a really big chance of winning something. The rest is up in the air. At the end of the day, Joanne had very mixed reviews, she's still trying to win back critical reception. AOTY is always given to something critically acclaimed. The closest they ever came to giving to a more lukewarm receieved album was the year The Dixie Chicks won. But Divide might well do it this year. If the reception's lukewarm, it can perhaps be saved by the amazing commercial reception. If he wins, though...his ego will go through the roof.

The grammys already made that mistake once, they wont do it again.

Beyonce didn't win for her self-titled album, even though everyone thought she was going to. Because of this, people said Lemonade would take unquestionably take the prize because the Grammys wouldn't make that mistake again after they hate they got last time. Because it was the best recieved album on the list as well, winning was seen as a foregone conclusion. But no, it was the second year in a row that they awarded sales over reviews. So, honestly, I wouldn't put it past them to snub Kendrick again. However, like I said, they've gone for the bestselling album 2 years in a row now and they usually do that every other year. Which could mean that it will come down to artistic praise over sales again. But this is the Grammys we're talking about. Anything could happen.

If they give it yet another borning white bland album again for the fifty thousandth ****ing time in a row, I swear to Christ.

Gaga doesn't count because her music isn't boring whitewashed.

Ill plots.

Agreed, they do reward a lot of bland music but do you really have to make it a personal thing with pointing out that these artists are white? Every race is making bland music right now. I've only discovered one album that's above average this year. Honestly, critics always like bland stuff, regardless of who's making it. And I really want to know what you mean by "whitewashed" music considering that no white rappers are winning the award. I'm not claiming that whites are oppressed but I'm getting sick of seeing my race as something to poke fun at. You'd think white people had never made any original/cool/good music ever. I thought in these socially aware times, we'd stop doing this. I deal enough with my gender and my hair colour being an insult. I don't need my race added into the mix as well.

Whitewashed is another way to say bland. It's not a white as in the race Caucasian thing, Judy a term my friends and I use, thought it was more popular.

Everyones putting out bland music yes, but for the past while, only the albums by black artists were any good out of the AOTY noms, the rest were by white artists (not all of them but most) and they were pretty subpar (maybe not 25, but it wasn't that exciting either).

25 over Lemonade

1989 boring over TPAB

That Beck one over BEYONCÉ

RAM over GKMC

Bable over CO

and then from then down they were pretty even as far as quality.

Black artists are making boring music too, but some white artists are making entertaining music, but sadly it's not getting nominated (gaga, Lana, even Ariana)

What I mean is that the Grammys always seem to nominate really good albums by black artists, and then boring albums by white artists, who end up winning. It's confusing.

This year I think the same might happen, seeing as Kendrick made yet another masterpiece, but I honeslty see it going to the most boring of all these albums mentioned, Divide by the elf. It's annoying, and if they want it to change they should nominate more than one quality album like they did from 2012 down.

Shouldnt of brought race in, just noticing some patterns with them recently.

Yeah but there are other smaller categories that Gaga can win.

Joanne the album can only qualify for pop vocal and AOTY.

I think definite nomination and a possible win for pop vocal (because the ginger might not check some of the things they want that gaga does for this particular award ***talent***), and then a maybe, absolute maybe, nomination for AOTY, but like a 0.1% chance of it winning. The contenders are already far more likely even if they're not as good (Divide or Damn for sure who it's going to, with the Weeknd and possibly Bruno squeezing in a nom, if not Bruno then I think gaga would get in, because the last slot is going to a more indie album for sure, so not one of those two).

Million Reasons however might fit into country awards because it's been labeled by lots as a country song, and I mean Beyoncé got rock last year, so maybe.

In that case (these are just ball park):

SOTY- 99% nom, 80% win

ROTY- 75% nom, 30% win

Country Song - 50% nom, 10% win

Country Performance - 75% nom, 50% win

If they consider it pop, which knowing how the Grammys and gaga work could very well happen:

SOTY/ROTY same stats

Pop Solo Performance - 90% nom, 70% win

So MR has really good chances at a couple wins.

Praying we at least get nominations this time

ARTPOP didn't have any, right? :oprah: did she even submit ARTPOP to them?

She submitted Dope (ROTY, Pop Solo), Gypsy (SOTY), ARTPOP (AOTY, PVA), G.U.Y. (Music Film), and DWUW (Pop Duo/Group) :toofunny:

If Million Grammys will be snubbed for Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year after Gaga has performed it tons of times flawlessly and even performing it on Superbowl

I remember the submissions for BTW were really weird too. She'd better not pull that this year and do something like submit Grigio Girls for Record of the Year. I'm just anticipating the reactions when she submits MR for the music video category.

I think Judas and You and I were submitted and The Edge of Glory wasn't. I think there's a limit as to how many songs you can submit for a category otherwise Nicki Minaj would have like 100 submissions.

But You and I was nominated so perhaps she made the right choice.

I'm usually very optimistic but I'm surprised by how you conclude that there's a 75% chance of ROTY nomination for Million Reasons. I mean Bad Romance wasn't nominated in that category, so I'm not sure if Million Reasons stands a chance.

According to Wikipedia (I know this is not a decisive source), Million Reasons is a pop song. I don't think it will qualify under country, no? Because I think the song has to be truly and authentically country to be nominated under that category.

I dk much about genres but does anyone here know if Beyonce's song which was nominated for 'Rock' could truly be considered as 'authentic rock'?
