Ajit Pai, the chairmen of the FCC was an Obama appointee and has served at the FCC under both Democratic and Republican administrations. Trump has no real power or influence over the FCC nor has he publicly acknowledge Colbert's rant. The job of the FCC is to monitor obscenity on public airwaves. CBS is on public airwaves. Stephen Colbert admitted he was cruder than he should have been. Crude is a synonym of obscene. The FCC received a litany of complaints, and said they would look into it. And you think the FCC saying they are going to look into this, is a politically motivated? Right now the federal government, under the Trump administration, is in the midst of an inquiry into Fox News and Trump's dear friend Roger Ailes. Is that not politically motivated as well? Or is it more likely that Trump doesn't have his finger in every federal pot? The FCC is doing it's job. The most that will come out of this is a fine, if that. The FCC is looking into it because of the complaints. The complaints are due to a twitter campaign by trump supporters. Not because people think that the word cock, bleeped out, is too offensive for cable television. That is the witch hunt. The FCC probably has to investigate when enough people complain.
