Even her short videos struggle to get 100M views (Million Reasons, Perfect Illusion, etc). I've never quite understood why she has such low VEVO views compared to her contemporaries. Even moderate hits for other pop stars generally generate a significant number of views, regardless of whether the video is conceptual or not.

I really think it's something to do with how long she took to release ARTPOP and the whole Applause Vs Roar thing the media and fans created. She toured Born This Way way too long after the album so it pushed the album back and then the hip injury pushed it even further back. If you compare the Applause music video (which gaga had less than a week to create the concept for and film) and the Roar video which obviouslt had a high budget and the concept was a lot clearer for the mass audience. They both came out at the same time except Applause has 285m views and Roar has almost 2billion views now. Something changed the perception of Gaga, I think back from Born This Way era, I think Judas as a single damaged her image as her views started to decrease a lot in that era too. Gaga needs to DELIVER with this video if she is ever going to have the music video power she had back in 2009/2010. If she can have her videos become an event again she can easily get 1 billion views.

Back on topic: Really happy with how The Cure is very steady on both UK and US itunes at the moment. Hopefully some sort of promo (tv commercial with the song included, music video) will boost it. I expect a video within the next two weeks (if it has been filmed, if it hasn't I don't think we will get it till late June).

lmao at the audio getting more views than the lyric video

Isn't it supposed to, tho? I mean what you get from the lyric video is a total headache and maybe a visit to an ophthalmologist

Yeah, but Million Reasons and Perfect Illusion are weak videos and, arguably, her worst videos along with TEOG (which, despite being a huge hit, has low views). The issue is her videos aren't an even anymore. Nothing about her videos has really been outstanding after BTW. She needs a flawless video that gets attention and she'll be fine.

atleast 80% of the most viewed videos today have weaker videos then TEOG & PI and MR though :madge:
Other people seems to get away releasing any kind of video as long as the song is in it. All we need is a global hit tbh and the cure could go that way.

Yea, but plenty of bland videos by artists in the same 'realm' as Gaga easily pass the 100M view mark on Vevo. I mean, This Is How We Do easily passed Applause in views and Applause was a conceptual, short video for a song that spent several weeks in the Top 10 of the US Hot 100, whereas This Is How We Do did not have as much success.

I feel like if Applause was a single and video released by Shakira, Rihanna, or anyone else it would easily have 300Mil+ views.

Yeah applause is imo a good video and was a ww hit(a bit local but still a hit in most places) but still didn't even come close to the views on other videos from that year. It's 69 on the most viewed videos made that year and that is far from good considiring it was a lead from someone as big as gaga. I mean even ariana- The way have more views and she wasn't even big back then. TITHY and Undcondintally also have more views despite floping on the charts in most places all over the world

I have no idea why she struggles so much with youtube, but i hope the cure will make a change to it.
