Interesting sound but that look remind very much of joanne blond with dark root :sure:

Yeah, but why? It's basically what Miley was/has been doing before CBT and Bangerz. If anything, she's just going back to her roots.

Spoiler

But yeah, she did say Gaga & Madonna enlightened her

I wonder how awesome TC era would be with fashion and performances if ASIB wasnt happening.

I hope The Cure hangs on the top 50 of the charts until ASIB is over and maybe Gaga performs it somewhere

how many performances and visuals you expect for the first 3 weeks?

Hm, not sure, judging by every other lead single she's done.. A lot more than 0.

Inb4 she performs The Cure at the end of ASIB movie, when, being the huge country artist she's ever dreamt of, decides to cross genres

I don't know if this was posted yet, but in 2016 for the first time ever the money made from streaming was more than all physical purchases and digital downloads, ring tones etc, combined according to the 2017 report from RIAA. We are truly in the era of streaming.

Streaming made up 51.4% of all music revenue in 2016.

All streaming made $3,392 Million dollars in revenue.

The breakdown of streaming is...

Paid and Limited Tier Paid streaming - $2,478 Million

Sound Exchange (Digital Radio) $883 Million

On Demand - Ad Supported (what we call "free streaming") $469 Million

All other Ad Supported - $101 Million

Permanent Digital Downloads $1,803 Million and Physical Sales were only at $1,670 Million.

Paid streaming also generated more revenue than any other consumption format and grew 102% from 2015.

The report from RIAA is much longer and a very interesting read. There is also info on how much $ it takes to break an artist into a major market, that is really interesting.

This should change the way we view the iTunes chart as it continues to lose its importance over streaming.

Keep streaming The Cure hunties!

Yeah, and how much of that money goes to records labels and artists? Streaming still sucks. Idk why people use Spotify and so on when, tbh, they could just play their music on their phone's music player or their laptop directly. Like, seriously... But then again, I'm from a country where piracy is at a high level.

I, for example, don't have spotify, don't use google play music or whatever, even though I do buy most of my music from google play. It's just that I don't use all these streaming services, I don't see their point. Why would I waste more money and my internet for something that I already own?

There's also LOTS of people that play a lot of music but don't stream it. Why shouldn't their individual plays count the popularity of a song? Why is it that only spotify, am, pandora and some others are included in the formulas? It's ****ed up. It's still very ****ed up and it's gonna be like this for a while.

Of course iTunes has lost importance in the last years, but it continues to count for every chart, so it's important to track it

Spoiler

it's actually quite entertaining following iTunes because we can see useless meltdowns and useless posts. In addition, we have always something to talk about during the day :hor:

Well if you read the reaport. It's all net profits in millions not gross. So it's all real profit. Read before you type.:saladga:

Also the numbers are from RIAA so it's only the U.S. we are talking about. I know the internet is more expensive in other countries. But most of the U.S. have unlimited data plans or plans that make services like Hulu or Spotify not count against their data usage. Also I won't be mad at you for buying a Gaga album or single. This is just U.S. GP info.

I didn't talk about net/gross profit :rip: I was saying it's still bullshit and that the record labels and artists barely get anything (if they do at all) from those numbers. And that streaming doesn't necessarily showcase what's popular as there's millions of people that don't use them. I think you should've read what I said before you typed:saladga:

You're being very dramatic. Your argument is the same argument pre digital music file

edit; the key difference is when you consume music online, you are exposed to consuming other media and advertising. There's money there where playing music you bought doesn't bring.

Even if pop doesn't turn around it seems that HAC will support The Cure so that's good. It be real nice if pop could figure out its problem though and start spinning it more
