Let's face it, the West, through its commitment to both secularism AND religion allowed gay rights movements to get us where we are today. There was a back and forth. That's always been the "open exchange of ideas" that the modern West was founded upon. Islam, as a political ideology, isn't interested in free speech or this type of dialectical thinking. Sure there is still violence against gays in the West, but think of how different Western societies are compared to 30 years ago. The idea of gay marriage in 1987 was unthinkable. I'd just hate to see a country like Sweden regress if it becomes Muslim majority sometime this century. Bad ideas are bad ideas. I also think Scientology is ridiculous - Germany has banned it yet for all the negative publicity it receives, no Germans have died in Scientology terrorism.
