ctherainbow 3,162
So, Kat often makes good points. I took exception to her video blasting Gaga for not making the Super Bowl a BLM protest, but that's for another thread. I haven't watched the video, because I already know it's going to raise my blood pressure, so if I'm wrong about something Kat says in the video, please correct me. From people's reactions, she's clocking BTW for being an "all lives matter" anthem. Now, first of all, I'm not black, so I haven't experienced the specific oppression that has given rise to the BLM movement, though I have experienced plenty of discrimination and prejudice in my life for non-racial reasons. I don't use the "all lives matter" terminology, because it's triggering and in most cases problematic. However, if I were to use it, it wouldn't be from a place of "well, I don't like your movement getting attention, so I'm going to try to dilute the message by emphasizing all lives". It would come from a Hey Girl/Come To Mamma place of wanting us all to succeed in getting an equal opportunity, equal treatment, and equal justice, together, so we can build a more fair and loving society. Now, I'm pretty sure that's the place Gaga was coming from when she wrote BTW, too, and irregardless of whether or not people interpret it as "ignore the differences between us and love each other because we were all born this way and the world will see us all as equal" or not, that's not Gaga's fault. And people who interpret it that way are ignorant af. So I get that it could be interpreted as an "all lives matter" anthem, but it seems to me(without having watched the video, so I may be wayyyyy wrong) that Kat is kind of reaching here. Also, the song was written long before the majority of white America realized that the problems which later spawned BLM were as bad and widespread as they are, because the mainstream media refused to report on it. So I dunno if Gaga can be faulted for not being aware and/or not time traveling. @ItsTommyBitch I respect your opinion, and I see you watched the video. Care to save a bitch his blood pressure and let me know if I'm way off base? I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.

Dirtyicecreamz 1,716
I honestly loved Kat Blaque before because i'm also black + trans and saw myself in her but the more I watch her videos, the more I cringe. Singing Born this way IS political. Lady Gaga, in her presence, her things she's done for the LGBT community, her ongoing activism, makes her a political figure no matter what. She literally sang no matter gay straight or bi with mike pence and every other homophobe watching, is that not enough already? And she's so.. SO wrong about BTW being "all lives matter", that hashtag didn't exist in 2011. How is someone preaching for peace and acceptance of everyone regardless of their race, gender or sexuality, a bad thing? People will find anything to complain about I swear. I didn't see her complain during Beyonce's Halftime Show. I find it even more ungrateful that this is coming from a trans person considering the time Gaga has dedicated to the LGBT community, this woman will never be enough in people's delusional minds... Stop the music, Start the drama.

Fish 6,132
Gaga made statements EVERYWHERE AND ALL THE TIME. She did not needed to yet go a step further and get backlash. She needed to recover in the eye of the GP, so she can continue to grab attention and make bolder statements. And she will, she will have many more opportunities. This was not the time, and she still managed to make some subtle and classy statementsé And fock off, her work speak for herself. Beyoncé can choke. artRaver 3,188
I love Kat Blaque, lol. Also, she doesn't necessarily hate her. She has said in the past especially on Livestreams that Lady Gaga is her problematic fave. Pretty sure Kat listens to ARTPOP more than the fans on here, CTFU. ✿ cherry blossom girl ✿

I know that's morbid, but it's the truth. It's so frustrating! What other artist in history has given this much love, time and dedication to the gay community and this is the thanks she gets? She wrote a whole damn album about loving yourself regardless of your skin color or sexuality when she was on top of the world and could have written the most shallow songs ever just stay on top. That's why I hate when people bring up the "rich white woman" thing regarding Gaga because she is aware that she has the power to change things and she has. It sounds extreme but BTW has saved a lot of people who've been severely bullied from taking their own life. If that's not enough then I don't know what is.... Stop the music, Start the drama. imnotyourbabe10 6,101
Erryone has an opinion these days...SJWs are all over the internet....45 et al. are ****ing it up to get their way...let's just all come to the table and talk over some wine, tequila, vodka, weed, xanax, whatever your relaxation thang is... this polarization isn't working.....or let it remain polarizing and let's have a violent revolution! Sorry, just hate living in this era of technology masked as social activism (guilty of it myself, to be sure)...and everyone reports on it because they either have a degree in it (me, for example) or think their lived experience is so special... [Didn't watch the video cuz I don't have 22 mins to be annoyed...but this gal's reputation is pretty sound...so I'm just going off of GGD comments lol ]

ItWasntLaauv 6,392
I really don't like this girl. She's so annoying to me idk. I've seen some of her other videos and she's the epitome of "super extra, unnecessary political correctness." Listen, I'm all about peace, love, and a moderate amount of PC, but she seems to take it to another level to the point of her just being polarizing and unlikable. YeehawKylie 7,817
This is ridiculous. The song was written before Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter existed. While the issue definitely existed then, it wasn't labeled as it was now. We all know Born this Way was an LGBT anthem that was released at a time when youth LGBT suicide was high among other issues. Perhaps if she wrote the song now it would be presented differently. The fact is she wrote it then and it was meant as an empowering song for all, yes, but specifically the LGBT community and most specific LGBT youth. I'm sorry, I just can't stand these internet bloggers or vloggers who analyze sh*t made six years from today's viewpoint. I think there are several legitimate issues that could be discussed, not whether a song written pretty much for suicidal gay kids in 2011 fits into the Black Lives Matter or All Lives Matter category. BMURDA 335
Oh hell no. This girl is delusional. That song being released back in 2011 as a LEAD SINGLE during the APEX of her career was the epitome of putting "skin in the game". Let this girl think she's wiser than thou. She's dead wrong and just wants something to critique for the hell of it.

Care to save a bitch his blood pressure and let me know if I'm way off base? I watched the first 14 minutes, then the quote, then like 2 minutes after, so I didn't watch to the end But It was literally a passing comment, so i'm honestly not reading into that much. She doesn't come back to it I THINK... Unless it was said also earlier and I just missed it. She actually praised Gaga a lot, she just feels like, if the price is a fine or not being invited back or whatever, loss of fans, etc... and the possible reward is spreading love, validation, encouraging conversation, etc at a time when people need it most... and this is possibly the biggest audience she may ever have...it's worth the risks to go ahead and make a statement. This is when she talks about her history of respecting Gaga as an LGBTQ icon, and she says she is, but she ocassionally does things like this where it feels like she understands critics of her status as LGBT rights icon Which I think is fair. I think her argument is "its nice, but if there was ever a time to do so (make a statement and not worry about the risk), now would've been the time to do so". ~~~~ I don't think its "SJW" like or whatever to see someone trying to do good and criticize it. The intent alone is not all that matters, its the effect We should all be critical of our actions, even the good ones. Sometimes just trying with the thought "I want this to help everyone!" can sound good but not really be. We should all strive to be better. No one is perfect, but there is almost always room to grow. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
