Perfect Illusion was the definition of radio poison and the video caused epilepsy while CTTR was a mellow bubblegum pop with cute video, let's not 

CTTR was much bigger WW but I was talking about US radio only because many people told me that MR is a hit only thanks to discounts and constant promo

And no one said every pop girl needs to release those albums. But, if you look at commercial success, the public already decided they don't have much of a choice unless they want to suffer a sales decline when people decide they're over bubblegum pop for a few years.

I haven't heard bubblegum pop in a while. I see plenty of pop girls releasing different versions of pop and not necessarily finding much success in sales. In my opinion, there are plenty of pop girls releasing music that is very 'now' and not getting the success some male counterparts are. My point was that, even if some female acts are releasing subpar music, I don't really find any joy in celebrating their failures. It's not like Lady Gaga doesn't struggle to get a hit these days, like most of her counterparts.
