I'd buy a two year old Gaga song if the only place it had ever been released before was a random streaming service with a small user base :crossed:

When you think of legends, you think of their massive solo projects that changed the music landscape. You don't think of pop songs that feature rappers. That's where The Cure, Million Reasons, etc. got it right.

Well actually you kinda do. When you think of Mariah you think of Fantasy (Remix), which completely changed the landscape of music forever, or when you think of Beyoncé you think of her collabs with Jay Z and stuff like that. A collab with a rapper can be influential and a big part of a solo artist's legacy, it's just that Mariah and Beyoncé choose great and iconic rappers while Katy chose some mumble rappers that won't be relevant in 5 years time and they won't leave any type of legacy.

Also, I wanna say that I think both Bon Appetit and The Cure are terrible songs. But Gaga has a pass because she just released Joanne, which is amazing, she's actually experimented with different genres throughout her career and has shown a lot of growth, we know The Cure is just to gain streaming power and that's it, it's not meant to be anything more, she's giving the GP those dumb bops that they love.

On the other side Katy continues to make the same style, she's been doing the same thing since Teenage Dream and now, almost 10 years since her debut she's long overdue a reinvention or a glimpse of growth, but she hasn't done either.

Now, both have just released some shallow and dumb tracks, but Gaga has a lot more to offer, while Katy has only been serving that for her whole career, and she's clearly not doing it that successfully anymore.

Gaga without chart success is still a really interesting, versatile, and daring artist with music that spans many genres and topics. Katy without chart success is nothing really, since in all this time she hasn't really bothered to do anything more than trying to achieve it.

That's my final say on the matter.
