She had a great late 2014-2017 (even before TC) I think it's the fixation on chart success, especially during the streaming era. The Cure is doing well on radio, iTunes, and through streaming (2-3 weeks after release). People definitely felt like she'd always struggle with streaming and even radio, some even believed there were boycotts against Gaga in both industries. So seeing her succeed in the three major platforms (radio, sales, streaming) related to charts is probably giving people a false perspective that 'she's back'.
