Which is crazy. I remember when we used to track charts on here years ago and television promo was pretty much imperative for hit songs, especially for pop stars. They'd be everywhere. And now you quite rarely see mega stars perform on TV save for big events like award shows and sometimes SNL. The streaming age has really killed the concept of the "popstar". It sucks. I miss the days where artists would need to promote all the time to have chart success. But again at least artists like Cupcakke and other not mainstream ppl can make a living off their work were as before they probably could not afford a thing due to lack of exposure. Yeah it is sort of a double edged sword in a way! It was nice when people like Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna etc would always be promoting and there was always something new to watch.
