You could name me one recent hit that benefited from a performance, when there are many hits of late that have done perfectly fine with no TV exposure. Rihanna performed LOTB at last year's BBMAs a whole twelve months ago, but it didn't do anything until early THIS YEAR - due to radio support. Both of the other hits from her album also became hits without the aid of any TV performances. In fact, out of every single song currently in the top ten of the Hot 100, only the Bruno Mars song you could make a case for having it's chart run impacted by a TV performance. Even then, the stats show it would've done fine without it. Closer, the biggest hit in recent memory, was only performed on TV for the first time weeks after it became a hit. Also for reference, see literally any of Drake's recent hits. Let me reiterate - it'd be good for the song to be performed. dit 45,444 Posted May 2, 2017 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Meh pop update ---- Yeah I agree with @Harry a performance does not make a song a hit anymore (it sometimes does in a blue moon). In my opinion she should do a big performance when she is peaking on all metrics (so radio, spotify and itunes). That way it can give her a temporary boost that could help her have a nice peak on the Hot 100 but to claim that a performance this early one could make TC an instant hit or help it in the long run is not really possible. We need at least 40M radio audience and about 2M WW plays a day for a performance to mean anything...right now if she were to perform in the coming like 3-4 weeks it would do nothing for the song but give it a nice little one day itunes boost.
