But she can't afford to have several CTTRs in a row because they won't benefit from the same level of investment & they will get progressively lower peaks. CTTR didn't perform as well as it should have, but it wasn't a total failure. Like I said, someone like Zara Larsson would probably kill for two weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10. It's perspective. It would take a while for Perry to get dropped, and even if she did, another label would pick her up. Honestly, if she flops enough I could see her leaving her label for another with more to offer. Jennifer Lopez left Epic after a string of poor single performances and signed to Island, re-recorded her seventh album and ended up releasing the biggest hit of her career: On the Floor. Sometimes staying with the same label for too long can be part of the issue. Perry's label was with her during the most successful years of her career and may be stuck in the past a bit, perhaps another label would help re-invent or re-invigorate Perry's image and sound? What I'm trying to say is that nothing is imposible, and no label push an artist that not perform well eternally. Sony Music are, were and always will be an absolute trash by the way.
