What was Your First Impression of Lady Gaga?

Just out of curiosity, what did you think of Mother Monster when she first arrived at the scene/when you first discovered her? Did you identify with her immediately? Did it take a while for her to grow on you? What quality did she have that made you admire and fall in love with her?

For me, I remember I first heard "Just Dance" on an airplane back in 2008 and for the rest of the ride I replayed it non-stop. It was the catchiest song I  have ever heard. My first real impression of her was polarizing. This was back in late-08/09. I was obsessed with her music but I found her too cryptic and a bit scandalous with the way she portrayed herself. (Maybe I was too young to understand at the time). But after watching her interviews with Ellen and the debut of Born this Way, I started to get it and became a Little Monster. I feel like I've matured a lot and can fully digest the deeper meanings behind her outlandish and flamboyant persona (which is now one of the things I adore the most about her).

I was not impressed by Just Dance, but I started to watch some live performances, and I was slain! I got into Love Game and Poker Face on first listen.  POP MUSIC WILL NEVER BE LOW BROW

i remember watching the poker face video on tv, i found the name lady gaga hilarious and the song VERY weird! But then the next day i was hoping to catch the video again on tv, and just like that i became a fan

I was like listening to Just Dance and Poker Face and I'm like 'mmkay, this is good.' But when my brother let me listen to the WHOLE album of THE FAME, I'm like, 'this is fun!' I became a fan after Vanity (the underrated song) and Paper Gangsta.

I became a real fan just 2 years ago. Of course I knew her songs earlier and liked everything I heard from her, but I never really followed her.

And then, 2 years ago, I was just upset from the music wich was on the radio and I remembered that in the area from 2008-2012, I really liked the music on the radio. So I went to a site wich listed all the charts from the past years and I looked for songs I liked. Mostly I didn't remember the names, so I listened to much of them.

And then I came to the point, where I saw "Lady Gaga - Poker Face" and I thought: "Oh my god, I remember this. I went immediatly to listen it again. And that's where it all started.

I began with the hits first and watched ALL the live performances. First, I didn't want to watch the piano performances, but GOD were I wrong. 

Now I am a major fan, it's the only star I follow and love so much. Before I came to GGD, I kinda feel like I lived trough all the eras by myself, but without the meltdowns and broken promises  And I almost immediatly began to understand her attitude and her weird outfits. I REALLY liked that she just does what she wants.

Haha, after watching the Just Dance MV and being utterly appalled by what my eyes saw (poor 10 y/o me) I started getting Gaga and Kesha confused ALL THE TIME, all I saw were 2 cray blondes obsessed with partying

2009, Poker Face's bridge playing on the radio in the car:

"This reminds me of My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas" 

I continued to love PF more and more, and it became a staple on my rides to school (it was played so often on the radio it was guaranteed I would hear it at some point). I just kept loving her more and more until Bad Romance and TFM, at which point I became a full-fledged Stan. 

(I had heard Just Dance on the radio but never cared much for it, and didn't even know who sang it until after I fell in love with Poker Face. Ironic considering those two songs share so many similarities compared to Gaga's other songs!)

First in like 2009 I though wow nice dance music and then in 2011 I figured  that there is so much more to Gaga then "just" the music, I started to listen to all these interviews and i fell in love with her. And after BTWB in 2012 I was totally flashed by Gaga. And since then I am happy to be part of this fanbase
