Im not saying Berkeley has to hold her event. They don't. If you actually read my posts before someone tried to pick a fight with me on their high horse, all I was saying is that liberal students should just ignore her.

I never said that she advocated for violence. 

There were outside factions that came to the campus last time and participated in the violent part of the protest- that's what the university is trying to avoid. 

Of course it isn't against the law to be an obnoxious conservative- I specifically stated that. That's exactly what the concept of free speech covers.

Liberal students should protest in a peaceful manner, if they see fit. 

Free Speech doesn't mean that institutions have to let anyone say anything anywhere. There are expectations of general decency at businesses and institutions and some people cross those lines. They can yell anything they want out in the street, and not get arrested by the government, but their local university just might not give them a venue to spew their white supremacy and racism.

Eh, institutions have the right to deny speakers who deviate so far from average acceptable human thoughts and behavior. Universities also have a duty to keep their campuses free of riots. They make decisions based on multiple considerations, the least of which is some ignorant meme.

Again, I'm not talking about institutions... I'm talking about communities....

Liberals getting so mad to the point of violence plays right into the hands of Ann Coulter. THAT is her goal (to piss liberals off).

Regardless of whether or not she gets to speak, she's already won. Her goal is accomplished, she's just a professional troll.

Also... I would say Ann is as far right as Bernie is far left... he is a socialist after all, not even a Democrat. So if an institution is gonna ban far ends of the political spectrum just because they're not acceptable averages (as you say), I think that ought to apply to both ends of the spectrum.

After all it's not Ann's fault people are getting violent, even if you think her opinions are inflammatory.

Let her speak and pay no mind to her, THAT is how you stop someone like Ann Coulter. All she wants to do is see how mad she can get liberal, so don't give her the satisfaction. 

I agree with this. Protesting her visit in an attempt to cancel her speaking engagement is not productive. It gives the speaker more publicity on a larger scale, allowing their words and views to inevitably reach more people. While I disagree with her, if she was invited by a group she has the right to speak at the university. I wish rather than protest in an attempt to cancel her visit, students would ignore her speaking engagement and put their energy into attracting a speaker from the other end of the political spectrum to speak at the university to offer a different view.

This is what people like Ann, Milo, etc want. They want these leftist antifa people to start violence and destroying property because it benefits their cause at the end of it. When people see on the news something like 'protesters destroy campus and start violence over Ann Coulter speech', they are NOT going to take the protesters' side. It's only going to bring even more attention and sympathy to Ann Coulter and her message.
