I bet money that voter-turnout will be extremely high on May 7th, due to the fear that Le Pen may win. So far the only person who has lost is Fillon--a republican. What got Trump elected was a combination of circumstances that jut doesn't happen very often. Hitler was not elected democratically, he never got more than 40% of the vote even though unemployment was at 30% at the time. He also wasn't clear about what he would do with jews/gays/gypsies/etc. 'Wir haben es nicht gewusst!' (we didn't know about it!) is a well-known phrase from post-WWII germans. Then how Trump managed to galvanize those crowds? There's nothing I like about the man, but he didn't get that many followers just because of rare circumstances - others sharing his exact ideology have failed before him. As for Hitler, as far as I know, he didn't take the power by force. And Mein Kampf was published nearly 10 years before his rise to power - I'm not going to quote it directly because I refuse to, but it didn't take me 5 minutes to find excerpts of genocidal nature from it online. So the people saying they didn't know just didn't read it, or didn't think he would go to such extents. But he did.

It's like Ted Cruz endorsing Hillary. Fillon would never support a candidate against the EU. His endorsement is natural.

The medias forced on us a truth (Macron on the second round) that was wasn't a truth at first but did became true because we all believed it. It hasn't been true for the past few weeks - I was personally under the impression given by the media that Mélenchon would get to the 2nd round. And no matter all that was said about him, Fillon still managed to get 19% of the votes. Maybe for the 1st time in a while, no one, media included, had really any clear idea of the outcome.
