Adding / Replacing Songs On an Album

Is this becoming the new thing?

Britney replaced the original Slumber Party and now Shawn Mendes added a song to his album just like that. Will Gaga do the same? Just add The Cure to Joanne :oprah: I highly doubt it. This whole thing is really weird to me.

Gaga did it with The Fame, didn't she? :oprah: I became a fan during the Paparazzi → Bad Romance era so I'm not really sure :flop:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

re-releasez and this kind of stuff is usual marketing ploy in pop music. It's everything so it sells more

She switched Again Again for Starstruck, Paper Gangsta and I Like It Rough. LoveGame and Money Honey were all mixed again too. New bonus tracks (Again Again, Disco Heaven, Random Remixes)

It doesn't sound like something Gaga would do now, especially because The Cure would sound out of place on Joanne. Sure, they did that with The Fame but she was a new artist and they added a couple of songs because they wanted to get Gaga's name out there no matter what.

I was one of the lucky ones who got Again Again on The Fame! I was mad when they removed it but I love Paper Gangsta and Starstruck so it was a nice re-release.

I mean you could still get "Again Again" if you type it on iTunes. I'm just saying because I bought it last year. The only thing is that when you have it on your iTunes library both "Again, Again" and "Starstruck" are going to be labeled as the 9th song (even though "Again, Again" is shown before "Starstruck") and I'm from the US. Maybe it's a glich in my iTunes since there's times when I switch to iTunes from different countries??

This is a very rare thing but some artists actually re-release their album internationally with additional and switched tracks. Jason Derulo did something very weird back in 2013. He released his third album, Tattoos, the one with Talk Dirty on it, in September. But he only released it outside America and later re-released the album with a new cover and a new title, Talk Dirty, in April 2014, with 4 new tracks. It was the same album, released 7 months later with 4 new tracks and a different cover and a different name. It was really strange. I don't know why he didn't make the new version from the get-go. He's American, why did he decide to put his international fame first? Confusingly, he titled his next album Everything Is 4, which is a bit weird when you consider it's like he technically released his last album twice, even changing the name, making this kinda like his fifth album.

I really hope we don't see this in the future. It confuses people and makes devoted fans have to buy your album twice. Maybe this is why his next album flopped and the singles from the album after that did so bad that he scrapped the idea for his album, released a greatest hits album instead and is only just now trying to make a comeback with Swalla.
