Haven't really seen them protest or be violent against other groups of people. But you're right, it would be horrible to lose your family and friends in case you want to leave the community... It varies from individual to individual just like in any other group A group of witnesses once invited me to chill with them at a pub. Because I couldn't act on my homosexual feelings and I felt isolated from soceity. What I could and could not do was limited and the meetings bored me to death. My aunt left the religion after growing up in it due to my grandmother and when she left due to not believing in it anymore she was almost driven to suicide.
