I don't see why not wait a bit since she's so busy! I think it's pretty smart actually. I guess it's designed to get traction on radio and Spotify so that it doesn't need promo. Doing so it keeps her name out there while she's so busy to fill the gap between now and the tour starting - otherwise she'd just essentially be gone. Because summer songs are released in mid april and because new songs now need at least a month and a half to gain streams in order to become popular unless you are Ed Sheeran. Also if the movie wasnt happening she would be still not promoting. The promo most monsters refer to is oldschool and has no effect on the song's performance unless its the superbowl. All she needs is radio and spotify exposure in 2017. MR was heavily promoted but in just two weeks time TC will have outpeaked it (because sales are not that important nowadays just vec) just because of streaming. They really push her on spotify, i bet that was the plan with Joanne but the album is more mature and "unappealing" to teens.
