joannesrats 26 Posted April 16, 2017 Share Posted April 16, 2017 Hey there, so I've had The Cure on repeat since last night, and as honestly generic as it is, it still has something about it that makes it so much better than anything else in the Top 40 right now. I may be biased because it's Gaga, but her lyrics are much more powerful than anything else, in complete honesty. Also, even if you don't want her to go in a generic direction, this is almost a guaranteed summer hit. This is what the radio wants, and she and Bobby and Interscope are smart for doing this now. It's what she's needed. Also, some people complain when she doesn't put out a trendy pop song, and then when she does they complain that she's being too generic. Pick a side, it's pointless. I've not seen a person yet who loved pre2011 gaga complain about The Cure. She appeased a quarter of the fanbase with Joanne And she's appeasing the rest of us and the world with TC. Some of these people in this fan base are extremely out of touch with pop music and what made Gaga successful This song isn't the most 'unique' or 'Gaga' cut from her discography, but please remember Gaga got where she is by finding the perfect middle ground of her putting her own experimental influences in mainstream pop music (see The Fame and then fame monster). If y'all want her to "slay the charts, etc." then don't be surprised that's she has to make compromises to be there (Million reasons had the super bowl). If you expect her to stay making the same music she's done previously (like TFM or even Joanne) get a new artist to stan or suck it up. She says not the kind of artist like that.
