Is 'The Cure' an experiment?

Is there something we're missing? Gaga just released a generic, radio friendly song that follows the current trend. This is the same person who worked with Mark Ronson and released Joanne, basically said FU to mainstream music. (I'm not saying it's a bad song, I like it and it will chart) BUT do you think this is an experiment of hers? Is she making a statement about the music industry? I could be overthinking and the song was released because her team knew it would be a hit and make her more relevant on streaming services.

Listen to Freezer Burn or Second Time Around (both Gaga unreleased songs)

The Cure might have elements of what's popular on radio in its production, but it's also very reminascent of some of Gaga's pre-Fame songs and it also has a RnB flair to it, I don't thing it's as generic as some of you make it

Benji

Perfect Illusion is Bad Romance version 12.931

A-YO is Uptown Funk / Shake It Off

Million Reasons is a standard ballad

ARTPOP was 2012 EDM

-------------

Can we stop pretending that she stopped making mainstream music, please.

Spoiler

I love the songs mentioned but it's getting boring seeing people claim that she stepped away from the mainstream when she didn't.

I agree with this completely. It has some trop-pop elements, but it breaks the mold pretty cleanly. There's a heavy RnB element, especially her vocals in the verses and the melody of the chorus.

Exactly!

Honestly Gaga KILLS IT when she does RnB so that's why I love the song so much :kara:

inb4 the song is actually for the ASIB soundtrack and is supposed to be sung during the part where Gaga's character sells out as a pop star :emma:

Christ sake. EVERYTHING she released prior to Joanne was radio-friendly. Y'all are making out like she was this super experimental indie artist who's doing a complete 180.

This isn't an 'experiment'. It sounds exactly like Brooklyn Nights, DWUW and other unreleased songs she's done. The only difference is the trendy tropical riff which SHE ALREADY DID ON DANCING IN CIRCLES, WHICH YALL LOVED AND WANTED TO BE A SINGLE BECAUSE IT WAS RADIO FRIENDLY!!!!

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!
