I'm OVER pretending like I don't like Gaga going basic and mainstream, and thinking she is BEYOND mainstream pop.

The DIFFERENCE between Perfect Illusion and this is incredible. When I first heard PI, I was cringing, like '' this is it? '' and it took me a good amount of listens to get into it.

The Cure hooked me up with a good feeling instantly. In mainstream pop standards, it is generic, but from Gaga standards, it's actually something different. I don't mind if she '' sells out '' and starts making boring, bland pop again, because it's definitely working for me personally.

If someone disagrees, I understand. But I feel like Gaga has done enough boundary pushing and trying to be something BIG, I think she has nothing to prove anymore and if she wants to go mainstream pop, that's cool, because I KNOW she'll deliver.

You described my experience with PI

She never made boring bland pop, though.

Man, I thought you didn't like the Chainsmokers. This new Gaga song sounds like a Chainsmokers song. :oprah:

I can admit some of the instrumental is "in trend," but the song has what they could never: diversity, an effective message, passion, and most of all, talent. The verses are so similar to Second Time Around, and the chorus is so similar to Nothing On (But the Radio), so it makes zero sense at all that she's just try to pander to the trends.

She's just infusing the contemporary sound into her style, making it her bitch and producing something that has my kitty shaking :music: She's grabbing the idea of tropical by the balls and twisting it to resemble the unreleased tracks of her roots, and I find that both brilliant and refreshing

Fingerella

Did anyoneelse noticed that the single cover looks similar to the ARTPOP single covers?

The Fame to me is boring, bland pop. But it was definitely more dance pop and had MVs with aesthetic that made it unique for the time.

You're right. Sounds more like the whole purpose production tbh

It sounds like the DJ Snake/Bieber song and Closer.

This song is basically Brooklyn Nights with a tropical house vibe.

I can't believe people are getting so worked up over the production. If it didn't have that one 'tropical' riff, everybody would be jizzing all over it.

THIS. Jesus. DIC, to me, felt endlessly more tropical than The Cure does, since I suppose sitars are, you know, an actual instrument with tropicalish origins... And just the general vibe... But whatevs. :lolly:

Is this an ARTPOP leftover?

That's what people have been thinking... It sounds like Posh Life, Brooklyn Nights and even Nothing On (But the Radio)... If you take a look at the "fake" ARTPOP tracklist, you'll see it's just before Applause. The point is both songs are produced by the same producer. It's maybe nothing, but maybe a small clue!

Joschua

I love this song. Gaga's main problem has been lack of a deep emotional connection with the GP.

(Judas, Mary the Night, Applause, DWUW, GUY, Perfect Illusion in particular)

This is super easy to connect to.
