Luv u Sum

This better not be the album version!!! The only reason CTTR worked was the fact that the song had a fun feel to it. She should have never tried to make it a serious song all over.... I mean it's not TERRIBLE but gurl.....why

Back to rent-a-rapper remixes. I thought she quit that after the backlash she got for using that method repeatedly during the TD era. She didn't use it at all during Prism, if I remember rightly. So, to go back to it now suggests that having a hit is of paramount importance, even if it means going back to her old ways. And of all names to go for, Lil Yachty? At least with Skip, she had a certain level of credibility because he wasn't an established star and isn't trying to make generic music for the masses. But Lil Yachty is not who you go to if you want to be taken seriously.

What the heck. And didn't she say this was a promo track and not lead single? It has a music video and now two versions. Let it die. She is so desperate for hits...it's truly pathetic.

I don't think that's what she meant. All she's said is that she wants to put out a couple of singles before the album. She said during her BRITS interview that she was still writing it and wanted to put it out in a bitesize format so people could process it better. I think taking this old-fashioned approach to putting her music out is going to backfire, honestly. Nowadays, most albums are released a month or so after the lead single. You have to do that to sell in today's streaming market and to maintain the public's interest. But Katy still wants to do that old formula of 2/3 singles pre-album with lots of build-up beforehand. That benefited her back in the day but it won't work now and especially not when CTTR wasn't the big smash she intended. Even the biggest names are putting out their albums as soon as possible after the lead single, so Katy's really taking a big risk here by not taking advantage of the limelight when she had it. I was surprised to find that she only started writing this album in June. I assumed she'd been working on it since late 2015 or thereabouts. So, maybe she's still cooking up a second single? I think it's a risky move to take. Most artists now have their entire album complete by the time they put out that lead single. But for Katy to still be writing it even now, that tells you that she's waiting to see how the early singles perform in order to decide which songs to put on the rest of the album, to get the best public response.

I still find it so surprising that Gaga released her new album first despite being a month later than Katy with her album release. Usually, the one who gets in first gets the next album out quicker too. I just wonder what's taking so long with Katy's album? She even said herself it's not going to be long and she's already written over 40 songs for it, so what's the hold-up?

Nope. You are assuming things and (like many others) trying to make her look like she's trying to be Gaga (lol). By the way, how do you know SHE is the one pushing the single so much and not her label ? I just find it funny how everyone just assumes she's doing all those things by herself :awkney: But when Gaga released those horrid MR remixes it was because of Interscope, of course. She might be in the middle of a mental breakdown and it doesn't have to be because she didn't reach the number 1 spot. Look at CTTR lyrics or her recent looks. She is avoiding to be the sexy chick she used to be on purpose, does that tell you anything ? She's hardly trying to appeal to people like she used to, she's not trying hard like you are.

She said in that Forbes interview that she likes making big money and loves taking on a boss woman persona and that women shouldn't shy away from wanting to be in control and make as much money as they can. So, I'd say she is totally on board with promoting CTTR wherever possible. And like it or not, Katy is still trying to appeal to the public. Her lead single was written with Sia and Max Martin, had a featured verse and now has a rapper remix. She's apparently collabing with The Chainsmokers. She's been saying that this is the dance record she's always wanted to make. She's always wanted to appeal to the public and do whatever's in at the moment. Even when she's trying to be experimental and indie, she's still doing it in the most commercial way possible.

When I saw part of this title, I was hoping it was for a new song. CTTR is not happening, it barely got close to happening, just leave it and move on. I guess she wants to cling to the Top 20 a little longer so the song isn't quite so forgettable and impactless.

There's a bit of a double standard on this thread...

But yea, the new remix isn't great.

I prefer this version if his verse was just in place of skips vs throughout the song

So this is the reason she shaved her head. Her label forced her to do this remix and she feels she has to do something to take control back so she shaves her head.

It's all making sense now.
