And like someone else said she may have been working her way up to a shorter cut, a lot of people do that. There's nothing to suggest she's on the verge of a mental crisis or whatever. Cheryl Cole and Carrie Underwood kind of have the same pageant queen look going on for over a decade now, and while it's a pretty look, it's not exactly hip or exciting. Why does it need to be hip and exciting, though? How does cutting your hair short make you cool? Unless someone, gets, say, a mohawk, I'm not really someone who finds any kind of hairstyle edgy. There's ones I like and ones I don't like but I've never found hair to be something hip or exciting, I only judge it by 'beautiful' and 'not beautiful.' It doesn't need to be any of these things I mentioned, but changing your hair can make you try out styles you wouldn't normally wear, or look at yourself in a different way, or just feel strangely freeing - thus it can be "exciting." She could totally go full K-Stew and do an androgynous look if she wants. This all wouldn't normally happen if she still had the same long hair. I think its kind of awesome that wants to take a risk with her look. Life it too short not to have fun with your hair IMO.
