Literally so many underrated songs on that album besides the 4 in the OP. Everyone forgets about the bops Schoolin’ Life, I Care, Party, Start Over. Like YA’LL ARE SLEEPING

I always forget those 2 tracks when i think of 4. I mean Love on top and Countdown etc overshadow those 2 tracks.

In theory I suppose this era should've been what the self-title was for Bey. Didn't happen. It could've. But Gaga isn't after success anymore. I think she appreciates it and won't turn down opportunities to ensure her stock rises (like the SB and Coachella) but it's not a driving force. Beyoncé is different and always has been. I mean, heck, it's obvious a huge reason those two collaborated to begin with is because she saw Gaga's imperial phase was in action and wanted to benefit from it. Ultimately, at that time, she gained more from 'Telephone' than Gaga did (and I say this as a fan of both). I love 'Joanne' and embrace the changes in sound but Gaga ain't comin' for Beyoncé's spot with an album like that. I don't think this album needs a visual album anyway. 'ARTPOP' did and it would've been amazing so I remain bitter! :sharon:

for the next album (or just the ASIB soundtrack), she needs to bring amazing music that will take over the GP :rockstar:

Spoiler

though for LG6, we need some phenomenal visuals :cryga:

Look what that did for Beyoncé :lana:

The pop fans here on this cult site love it (for the most part), but in the Beyhive (and most other places), her latest 3 albums + B'Day are considered to be above IASF :lolly:

Omg what

Beyoncé is such a weak album if you listen to it without visuals imho

The thing about Bey is she's very micromanaged, calculated, and precise. Gaga isn't. :nails: A huge reason she won't have an era like 'Lemonade' or the self-titled is how (for lack of a better word) messy she is. Even at her height a lot of imperfections were at the forefront. I like that about her because she's real. You know the ideas we see are largely hers for better or worse. As a result, though, I doubt she will be able to encapsulate the GP again. She has specific connotations attached to her and that won't change. As much as I enjoy '4', Bey didn't have any true personality while in concert or promoting her work until the shift in image and music. She was bubbly, determined, talented, & respectful. That's not exactly the case anymore. From the start, I'd make the claim Gaga was polarizing and although she's attempted to undo some of that now, I don't see it being successful to the extent she has a SECOND imperial phase.

The good news, with that said, is 'Million Reasons' did well and the soundtrack will be country influenced AT THE VERY LEAST so maybe she'll gain some new fans.

I'm not even a Little Chartster or anything, to be honest. I'm here for the music. But, still, I find the comparisons I made a bit intriguing.

The critics & fans disagree :poot:

Metacritic

I Am... Sasha Fierce - 62 (her lowest scored album)

BEYONCÉ - 85

I respect your opinion, although from my perspective, the album wasn't as strong as it could've been. The second half of the album was far more compelling than the first half.

Spoiler

Although I do love all of the songs on IASF (especially Sweet Dreams, Halo, Broken-Hearted Girl, etc. :cryga:), it's kind of weak and lackluster compared to the rest of her discography.

Gaga should at least get her sh** together for one more era, then start other endeavors for a while. :lolly:

Beyonce pulled off something that doesn't happen often in pop stars: A successful revival / second prime. :firega:

Yeah, well ARTPOP is my favorite album by Gags and it has the lowest score :queenga:

But I've never really been interested in what people thing of Bey's music, I've always listened to it casually when I felt like it so my opinion is completely uninfluenced by other people :lana:

Bey hired a new team shortly before 2013. I honestly think that has a lot to do with it. When feminism was starting to become trendy, she attached her name to it a la 'Flawless' and sex positivity throughout the album. Being #woke is now "in" so she made a black power record. I am not saying she doesn't genuinely believe what she's selling but she obviously has people smart enough to know what to do with her brand. A second imperial phase wouldn't have happened if she didn't serve looks that are fashionable with boundaries (something Gaga can't do because she gets negativity as seen with this era) while being political at the ideal time. Our gal isn't going to hire a new team. She's had the same people since the start when she can help it (such as Fred or Sonja). I love how loyal she is but that's also the cause of her questionable business choices. I also don't know what Gagz can do differently at this point to shift public opinion. The card she has played this album cycle is "I'm a real AUTHENTIC musician that can sing!" but it didn't exactly change her career. If she goes back to a dance pop-esque sound she'll get dragged by rival fanbases and the media. If she goes even less pop next album I think she'll anger a lot of her stans. Just remember Bobby is the one who had to intervene to modernize 'Cheek to Cheek' and this fanbase hates that album as it is. I can't imagine what they would've thought of the original album.
