It's a little shocking to see no one defend a bloody old man being dragged half naked down the isle of a plane. Even worse to see no one comfort him when he is so disorientated after being assaulted.

If an airline asked me to deboard so that they could make my seat look a little less like Azealia Bank's closet, I would not be rebording that flight.

I don't understand why people are removing him for overbooking if he was already seated.. Airlines EVERYWHERE does it. Here in Europe, they ask people at the gate if someone volunteers to catch a next flight and don't let more people in than the plane can handle.. If he was already seated, he was going to leave to give his seat to someone else? **** that, the person who isn't seated should be the one to go home, and not a person who is already set to fly

It wasn't another passenger taking his seat, it was a United staff member who needed to catch the flight so they could get to their next shift.

I think that makes it worse...not better. End of the day, you don't sit an entire flight, then make four people grab their stuff and get off. You bump people before they get on, cause otherwise, your only other option is assault and that is unacceptable.

They offered a voluntary option for 4 people to leave and no one took it, so 4 random passengers is the next best option if they truly needed the seats. 

The other 3 passengers got off without issue, yet this one, refuses to leave... Wouldn't it have been easier to just leave and kick up a fuss with them afterwards? Instead he wanted them to reroll the dice and refused to leave. You don't refuse to leave when security of a private business ask you to leave. 

Still, the physical removal seemed very over the top but if he's refusing it's no doubt going to have to come to some physical removal. I mean, you get physically chucked out of any private business if you refuse to leave. 

Crappy customer service but if you're asked to leave, just leave. Complain afterwards.

And yes he's a doctor, but anyone could have any number of reasons why they shouldn't be asked to leave. If you've done random selection you need to disregard individual circumstances and deal with the consequences afterwards. 

It looks like he did have reason enough for United to get him back on the flight, as he did go back on, but he could have gotten that same result without refusing the airline security. 

Again, that was absolutely hard to watch but they have the right to ask him to leave and you can complain and resolve afterwards. Physical removal is an escalation that you'd want to avoid, but if someone is refusing to leave, private business have the option to do so.

Though, overbooking should be illegal, they do it on purpose to maximize profits if people cancel or don't show up for their flight and it usually works fine but when It doesn't this is the result.

This is so disgusting and heartbreaking. Watching this made me so uncomfortable and sad at the same time. He was literally dragged out of there, and the amount of blood coming from his face/mouth tells that it was a very serious injury. 

My goodness, I just feel so bad for this man... That was completely unnecessary and just inhumane. Imagine, if that was your mother/father/brother/sister/best friend/etc.

EDIT - Honestly, people who say that it was the guy's fault for not getting off of his seat need to sit the f*ck down. I'm sorry, but how idiotic are you to just let this slide?? The man was covered in blood. He payed for the seat, and randomly chose him to get off. He had every right to refuse, and there was no reason for it to escalate so badly. Poor man... I literally just want to hug him, he's been traumatized...
