Luc 4,776 Posted April 7, 2017 Share Posted April 7, 2017 After taking in over 1.2 million refugees in a year and a half, a majority of 59% (up from 49% in 2012) of Germans still believe refugees are "very" or "rather" welcome and 70% believe migrants are welcome, a poll has shown. However, 54% of Germans believe their country has reached its limit, and 81% believe other European countries should take in more refugees. The refugee crisis reached a peak in September-October 2015 with over 10000 asylum seekers entering Germany on a daily base. Since the deal with Turkey and closing the Balkan route, the numbers have become a lot lower. So yes i do feel bad for Germany because their people are reasonable enough to understand that they ARE in the position to take in more refugees who need help. I know my grandma and her friends are not a big fan of this, because it does take a toll on the country. As much as I like Germany for taking in refugees, I do wish other countries did something (aka the U.S.). Germany is such a tiny country, and they can only support such a population number, while U.S. has lots to offer. I mean, even Canada step up to the plate and took refugees in. I know this is an overly simple view of this, but the world would be a better place if we all help out rather than just a few selected countries. I fell down the stairs once as an actor. Why not grateful, appreciative, etc In my first post i said i was also glad that they are still willing to take on more refugees, but why would i be grateful? The people that they are taking in should be grateful and appreciative, they are not taking me in. And while i am glad and happy that they are taking them in, i am sad for Germany because that is a massive cultural shock that they have to deal with just because, like i said, they are reasonable enough to understand that they can take it on. Most of western european countries can afford to take in as many refugees as Germany has taken, but they simply refuse, that is why i am happy that Germany exists, but also sad for them cuz they will take the biggest burden of the whole situation due to their kindness.
