DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Tbh, this is what I saw after watching the ad. I understand where the negatives could be found, but Kendall literally stopped her photoshoot and took off her glam to join in the greater good as depicted in the ad. Isn't that what many people on GGD ask Gaga to do? There's a lot of finger pointing at the fact that a "white girl" solved racism and violence, but I think that's taking things to the extreme. We've seen many instances were peaceful demonstrations had demonstrations shake hands with police and engage in thoughtful conversations. Honestly, the ad isn't THAT bad. People just want to make it worse. I could definitely see reasons to modify it, however. Would this be any different if a black woman was in Kendall's place and the ad was exactly the same besides that?

They use this new wave of protest to fight for people's right as though it's a new "trend", then proceed to bring a "trendy" model to sell a product that won't change the world, they think we're idiots. That's why people are pissed off In this society, if you're not with something, you're racist or homophobic etc, but if you're with something, you're wrong. It's ridiculous. The commercial was meant to show support. People's rights could never be a 'trend' because everyone has to choose a side anyway. Our society gets too upset easily. Lumi 3,512
The only thing that I found insulting about that ad is how bad it is tbh. Pepsi is a corporation they arent apologising because they mean it, they know if this got bigger maybe it could hurt their sales. Whatever there are more important issues than Kylie Jenner sharing a Pepsi. underneath the pine
ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Good. What the **** were they thinking What a terribly off point ad, and with Kendall Jenner of all people Imagine if they had picked Kylie Jenner with her cornrows Also just... the commercialization of struggle is so disgusting 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Would this be any different if a black woman was in Kendall's place and the ad was exactly the same besides that? She didn't take off her glam to join in the greater good. She saw a cute guy in the protest and wanted his D. I think the ad could have worked if they had taken a real-world stance and not just done a protest with generic peace signs. Like, maybe it could have been a women's march for gender equality and Kendall could have joined in with the march because of its cause, not because of a cute guy. It would have felt like a genuine message without just hopping on the "trend" of protests. I do think everybody has completely over-reacted to this ad, as there have been far worse ads in the past, but Pepsi were probably right to pull it. It was just stupid. I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!
prince 4,688
I don't even think Kendall Jenners been to a real protest I get the point of the ad, it's bringing people together but the way it was executed was so poor and made peoples struggles and peoples reasoning for protesting so trivial. In the advert the only reason she joins the protest is because she spots a hot guy in the crowd! The fact that the signs literally read "Join the conversation" shows that the thought process behind this was to get people talking about Pepsi and their products and not about protesting or standing up for what you believe in. It's so dumb, Kendall Jenner a woman with SO much privilege who has never even attended a protest just ends all the worlds astrocities with a can of Pepsi. Peoples struggle and their fight for equality and peace shouldn't be played with or used for marketing a product
