They know if Trump goes down, Pence will be an acceptable replacement for the Republican base and even the diehard Trump supporters. (He has been loyal to Trump throughout the election run, transition and his term thus far. I doubt very seriously that Pence was wound up in this Russia mess and he will be a welcomed replacement for the majority of the GOP base. You don't need to tell me any of that! I hope you realised when I said "I mean, to have Trump impeached and replaced by Paul Ryan??? It's almost as bad as Hillary getting in " I was playing the role of the Breitbart, Drudge Report, Fox News consumers I had been talking about who think Paul Ryan is a slimy, ineffective sell out. It wasn't representative of what I believe. I'd just spent my last post talking about how far-fetched but incredible it would be if Trump/Pence both got impeached leaving Paul Ryan as President, so I obviously don't see that as a 'bad' option at this point (although ideally Trump/Pence/Paul Ryan wouldn't be the three go to options for POTUS). Hillary would no doubt be a better option than all three. Of course Hillary is better than any Republican I've been discussing, there isn't even the slightest fantasy that she could be president at this point though. I'll admit my dream of a Trump/Pence double impeachment is a billion in one chance but there isn't even the probability with Hillary.
