I used to be obsessed with her music and sometimes I go back to some of my favourite bops of hers and pop my bussy like I used to back in the day

But I'm happy for her pregnancy, I bet she'll be a great mom :diane:

These are my favourite bops :lana:

She's hardly quitting, then. Just taking a hiatus with no specified end date. With a baby now, it's clear this was going to happen to some extent anyway.

But full-on quitting or not, this is evidence to any fans who say otherwise to the concept of how getting a #1 hit doesn't make you successful. Cheryl had two UK #1 singles with her last album but they actually sold very little. The first one only went #1 for one week and it only achieved that because this was back when we used the pre-order system and it debuted at the top because it was cruising on 2 months worth of pre-orders. The second single only went to #1 because it had a short pre-order period, it was released on the same day that she promoted it on X Factor and there was a clean version of it available, which her fans also downloaded en masse, even if they already had the explicit one, to make it chart higher. It's crazy looking back on it to think that a song that has barely scraped 11 million views on Vevo in over 2 years and has less than 60k likes actually went to #1 here. She's always been so lucky with the timing of her singles, that's all I can say. The next single didn't even chart and the era was promptly stopped. Her album flopped spectacularly, only peaking at #7 and selling barely 60k to date and there was no tour. But despite presenting all these facts to her fans, they were all about the chart position, saying that a #1 single means she's successful. It's not just about the position, it's about how much it sold and why it sold so much in the debut week. The fact that she's thinking of giving it all up despite having 2 #1's with her last album really tells you something. She doesn't want to embarrass herself by selling less and less to the point where she becomes a laughing stock.

I knew after this, she might start to admit a bit of defeat. But she was working on her album in LA for a short time when she must have just fallen pregnant. She claimed she was really loving urban music right now and claimed to be working with production team The Invisible Men. So, I don't know what will happen to any of that stuff now. I mean, her harshest critics have been telling her to quit since she began but she was getting success back then, so why would she? But I think she's reached a point now where she's just too embarrassed to come back. She's turning 34 in the next few days and likely knows she's getting too old to be successful with music even if it does sound current and now she's a mum, she may not be considered cool by the youth market anymore. Nowadays, the only people buying her music is her hardcore fans (of which there aren't many left) not casual music listeners like it was at the beginning. Her album sales pattern prove that it didn't take the public long to realise that she was all hype. It's a shame that one of the least talented members of the group has gone on to make 4 solo albums and yet the more talented ones have only released one at the most, with absolutely no fanfare at that.

All things considered, she's probably thinking it would save so much time, effort and money to just call it a day with music. She's finally got the baby she's claimed to have always wanted and perhaps wants to focus on getting married to the father and actually trying to make this relationship work. She won't want another divorce before she's even 40 or the jokes will really become insufferable. I mean, her last hit, I Don't Care was about how she just shakes off all the concerns people are making about her rushing into marriage with her new husband. Yet, less than a year later, she divorced him. So, what's she going to sing about when she comes back? "Sorry public, you were right, what am I like?" People will clearly have got wise to this narrative.
