PI would have just destroyed the relationship Gaga formed with radio all over again even if it was a later single and not the lead. An awful, unforgivable mistake on her team's part to release it as a single, let alone the lead. Hopefully they learned their lesson, but I feel lie they won't.

The instrumental fits in perfectly with radio though. The lyrics are fine too. The vocals are the mistake, but I can't imagine Gaga singing it any other way.

the lyrics are fine, but the production is a huge problem too lmao. Everything about that song is too loud and heavy to be commercially viable.

They haven't learned their lesson, sis. It's Gaga's team we're talking about.

It's a godly instrumental though, part disco, part rock, part electronic. It feels very radio friendly in that regard, so I can see why Interscope chose it. But it's just loud loud loud and ****ing painful on the eardrums, so it's pretty obvious why the GP hated it

your personal taste doesn't determine what the gp likes, this instrumental is very loud and heavy and pounding and that doesn't work on the radio. It's a great song but a stupid single choice

But how do you know they didn't like the instrumental? Basically you're saying the same thing you're admonishing me for :rip: No need to be so abrasive

Not trying to be mean, I think it's a bit obvious that they don't like it though considering it didn't do well. The new trend right now is minimalism, I mean compare the PI instrumental to these.

Spoiler

I also feel like the disco elements played a part, the US seems to push away disco as hard as they can whenever an artist tries to push it.

Dont forget she pushed dance music in 2008 and radios resisted.

And we know who won

this isn't 2008 anymore, and Gaga isn't a newcomer. It didn't happen and that's okay

She had the lowest call out scores of the week for PI. The GP doesn't like guitars, rock, screaming, and it wasnt love it wasnt love sung over and over. The GP just didnt like PI

I think the problem is during The Fame she promoted her songs in every single spot around the world to make it happen and she did not even perform PI properly besides Japan .

I think she killed PI on purpose because she was sharing pictures of inflatable birds in her house captioning "Doing Promo"

Meanwhile...

Why has she not worked with Justin Tranter? Haven't they been friends for like the longest time? He's become a huge hitmaker in the last couple years, they should've worked together

Americano

It's kinda cool to think about how no woman has yet to best Gaga's debut week for Joanne since it came out, and that'll probably be the case for the foreseeable future. Nearing 6 months at holding that title.
