At least she has HAC and AC's support now so she can at least rely on that for a radio hit in a few years I'm actually here for ASIB tbh but I know what you mean. :'( but yeah at least HAC and AC will probably stick with her as she gets older thank God. Hate to see it like this, especially when artists like Gaga and Beyonce are still trying to emphasize the album above the single. You just can't compare the experience of listening to an album for the first time to listening to a quick lil single. Even Katy said that's how she plans on releasing her new music, several songs being released before the album. Definitely a move her label is pushing on her. As someone who has followed pop music for over 10 years, this is extremely sad to see. Things are so different now. I blame Spotify If you're an album seller then the album is an important thing. That's it. Poor others. "Seems to be trendy lately to talk sh*t about 'Lady Gaga' when your albums/singles drop." - Leviticus 20:

Joanne is no more/less pop than her previous work. Plus, ASIB is an incredible opportunity! Can't we just be happy that Joanne and MR did so much better than many people predicted? If she was working with RedOne, Justin Tranter (a current hitmaker), plus others like Nile Rodgers, Elton John, etc, that's an album I would've loved to have heard nonetheless. Love Joanne, but the former would appeal to me more, and probably most of her fans. For sure about ASIB, but if it's a critical pan, like it most likely will be, that will probably kill her spirit and motivation to do anything. Sometimes it's good to just stick to what you're good at, and Gaga likes to do the opposite, which is so annoying at times. She was good in AHS, but the entire role was basically a long form version of a Lady Gaga music video.

She was good in AHS, but the entire role was basically a long form version of a Lady Gaga music video. Idk about "most" of her fans. You're definitely right that plenty of fans would have enjoyed that sound more, but plenty of fans also enjoy the sound she chose. I still think Joanne is her strongest work yet. Obviously opinions will differ though. Why will ASIB "most likely" be critically panned though? I agree, her persona as the Countess was similar to some of her music videos. But then she showed as Scathach that she's capable of an opposite type of character. She could be really good in this! We don't know how it will be received, but we know she will love doing it! I think it's amazing to see her do what she wants. She obviously wants to push the boundaries of her talents as far as the projects she chooses. And so far everything she's done has been amazing, so im very optimistic about how this will turn out! She could be just another boring pop star. nick4bty 2,758
She was never a boring pop star though. That was kind of my point. She always pushed pop music to the extreme, and then for some reason she lost sight of her own vision and just kind of abandoned everything that made her popular to begin with. I honestly thought we'd see a return of that style of music and performance with AHS, with all the talk of art of darkness and all of that, but she abandoned it and released Joanne. I'm sure everything in her career is being very carefully planned out and I appreciate the fact she is broadening her career beyond pop music, but I guess stanning for her in 2010 and stanning for her in 2017 is like stanning for two entirely different people, and sometimes it's hard to swallow. Honestly I think she outdid herself with BTW (I hated that album) and that initially threw some people off, she followed with ARTPOP (I loved that album) and she threw even more people off. I think Joanne, whether we like it or not, was one of the very few options she had to maintain her status which is a respected multitalented all around pop star. croboy 1,212
"stick to whats she's good at" or did you mean "stick to what i want from her"? it's her career, her art. if she wants to do a soundtrack and shoot a movie then let her. or do you want her to be depressed? i feel like for the last couple of years she's done it HER way and she seems the happiest ever. we wouldn't have got a new album next year anyway so i'm happy we are getting a soundtrack and album meanwhile.
