I think the problem is during The Fame she promoted her songs in every single spot around the world to make it happen and she did not even perform PI properly besides Japan .

I think she killed PI on purpose because she was sharing pictures of inflatable birds in her house captioning "Doing Promo"

Well thats kind of moot because the people didn't like PI, they really liked JD though

and it wasnt love it wasnt love sung over and over.

I think this wouldn't have been as big a problem if she made the bridge vocals ("Where are you 'cause I can't see...") a bit more audible to ease the repetitive perception a bit

Americano

People always liked Just Dance, it just wasn't being put on radio for people to hear.

Meanwhile...

Why has she not worked with Justin Tranter? Haven't they been friends for like the longest time? He's become a huge hitmaker in the last couple years, they should've worked together

They made a song together but it got scrapped.

It's kinda cool to think about how no woman has yet to best Gaga's debut week for Joanne since it came out, and that'll probably be the case for the foreseeable future. Nearing 6 months at holding that title.

Katy might, at least in SPS. You know Capitol has a Spotify deal already lined up for its debut week.

Taylor will too of course. Otherwise there's not really any other female releasing that can come close

so? I doubt a new listener will like it anymore if I play it for them next september then if I played it for a new listener when it came out. Gaga was a new artist so obviously it took time to become a hit.

Just Dance was getting great callout scores from the beginning, so this is definitely true. Just Dance would probably be a hit today if it was released. It's such a non-offensive song that is perfect GP bait

Of course it did :rip:

Edit: Just found the article now. So now it's blatantly obvious she basically had an entire album and concept ready to go with RedOne, Justin Tranter, obviously very pop oriented, before she randomly decided to scrap it and go country American with Mark Ronson.

So strange :rip:

But gives me hope that after she gets this era out of her she'll return to full pop

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be broken this year, but it shows she picked a good time to release. No major pop girl era to overshadow her. It's nice. Very different than BTW and ARTPOP eras where it felt like every week there were new huge albums coming out from her contemporaries

Not sure if it's always been this way, but all of the songs from Joanne are discounted to 0.99 on iTunes Brazil. (Normally 1.29)

I am a bit pressed because I loved PI and I wanted it to be big but instead we got 2 Dive Bar performances with butchered vocals.

Of course JD is way more radio friendly
