If you read that article and think he gave gaga 40 based on the album itself you have a problem

It was Metacritic that assigned that score :poot:. Anyway, my only point is that it's a music critique, and there are times that we agree and disagree on some of its points. I myself even disagreed to some of what Jon Caramanica were explaining on his critique, but I thought, he's a music critic, and I am not. He has wider reservoir of knowledge than I do when it comes to music. So at the end of the day we have to respect the analysis, especially since it came from NY Times. I'm sure NY Times wouldn't have published it if it's filled with malice. :poot:

And I know different critics have their different take on critiquing an album/song. Some only critique the album itself, others critique an album with the context of an artist's previous works and the previous endeavors he'd/she'd had. And for me, the latter is more effective as it puts the music critique in its proper context. Peace

Can you try to read a music critique from NY times, then @ me and highlight everything on the article that you think is personal. Thanks.

"These moves, and “Joanne,” too, serve as an overcorrection to the garish eccentricity of “ARTPOP,” her last album, which flopped. "

this is enough:awkney:

And WTF does this have to do with the album

"Note her recent tiff with the club-pop dopes in the Chainsmokers, who said in an interview that they didn’t enjoy “Perfect Illusion.” She responded, coolly, on Twitter, in what felt like a mother dismissing an impudent child.

Which is fair: The Chainsmokers don’t see dance music as avant-garde theater or sociopolitical provocation. They see it as quick-stepping pop, which, though it’s fuzzy in the rearview, is also part of Lady Gaga’s legacy. That they were allergic to “Perfect Illusion” makes sense. But instead of taking offense and tossing off a tweet, she should maybe give them a call."

You forgot this:

"Even when Lady Gaga was at her pop peak, she wasn’t quite at its center — she was a loud outsider summiting pop music by force of will and shock of glam. As a result, her music can seem like an old memory, not a recent one. And pop moves quickly:"

This is an important part of the paragraph and should not be omitted, otherwise the gist wouldn't be clear

And honestly I don't see anything personal from it 4mMZW5e.gif. And by personal I mean a statement filled with malice.

Why are we arguing about critics? They gave a general score of music's quality but can be unreliable and at the end of the day, you should base your taste off of what you enjoy and not the critics, okay.
