hELXIG 43,604
Undeserving. You don't get to use the gay community for sales and numbers, stay quiet every time there is an injustice towards that group of people, stay quite and avoid getting political about their rights, do minimal work to help them aside from mentioning them when it is beneficial, and then win a national equality award. That is unjust. And I am not just saying all of this because I'm a fan of Gaga, and she's done a lot for the LGBTQI+ community in the past 8 years. I'm saying this because Katy has done nothing worthy of winning an award. Nothing above the bare minimum of acknowledging the existence of people when it was beneficial to her reputation. Maybe she donated some money or made an appearance somewhere that I'm not aware of, but again, it's all about the reputation and staying relevant. There are plenty of people who forwarded or even fronted movements to help these communities who would have been much more deserving recipients of this award. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
Lady Palutena 3,147
Puh-leez, Sia has done more for the LGBT community than Katheryn here ever did. Adoremus in caelum, Palutena. Dea luminis.
Dominic 11,922
Brilliant speech. She's definitely helped people through dark times in their lives regardless and that's worth more than any award. SEANGT 5,475
that was cute. I could have used a "and i have a long way to go" sentiment but I feel like she knows it.

djBuffoon 12,136
Nice speech. So, what has Katy done to deserve this citation? No shade, I'm genuinely curious.

LordEnigma 11,313
Although I know the gays love her, I just don't understand what steps she has taken to promote equality. Yeah she made a song about being a paper bag drifting in the wind but has she made significant contributions to any LGBTQ friendly organizations? Can someone give me background about anything else she has done?

I don't get why people think Fireworks is an LGBT song. Like the song is just so broad that you can interpret it to be about LGBT people.... but like that's not the ONLY message of the song lol
