I feel like you can't say that all these older songs underperformed cause back then it was really different from now, what really mattered was RTL, if the song/music video was #1 there it was basically a hit.

Everytime kind off but I don't know just look at my other post those songs are literally from another era before the digital & streaming eras so we really can't say they underperformed.

Everytime was #1 in the UK and top 3/top5 in most other major markets. But yes it wasn't the same back then. Songs also didn't chart as long

It's not sad actually it's just really clever by Max Martin to reference his own song in Stronger.
